No, this isn't a thread about the high cost of parking (sorry Guru). It's about the process.

My experience:

Going in, the people pointing me in all directions was a complete clusterfuck. I ended up getting separated from my other party and driving through A to find no spaces. Besides, I didn't want to be outside Royals Stadium, so had to go 1mph to the perimeter and work my way back to the center. Begged a golf cart security to escort me to D, they were nice and they did, but I ended up following the pointing parking monkeys and ended up on the middle of C.

After the game it took us 98 minutes to get out of the parking lot.

98 minutes.

That's with me reversing out of a line of cars which hadn't moved in 35 minutes and driving over a strip of grass to get into a real exit lane.

Is it always like this? It's friggen ridiculous.

The only consolation was I was in my 72 VW bus so I had the amusement of people coming up to me every 2 minutes to talk about the bus or give me a thumbs up or high-five, or call me: Scooby Doo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Beatles, Cheech and Chong, "hang ten, bro", Jerry Garcia, etc. I guess there aren't any old VW busses in KC.

But the parking. Yikes, was almost as bad as that loss. Almost.

I tried heading for the perimeter, and a guy stood in front of my car, telling me to go back to where the people were pointing me. I told him we were trying to meet up with our friends who were near the perimeter (basically at the outer edge of the same lot) and he said "try to stick together next time. Go that way (to where they were pointing me)

I didn't bother to ask him why those people were at the perimeter.

I think they might be trying to **** up tailgating so they can sell more rotted Arrowhead food. Lord knows their changes haven't done a lot to clear the lots faster.

But George's advice to hang out after is solid....

Works for a day game but when the game gets out at 10:50 pm on a school night....not so much. Glad I don't have to be in any more of those dumpster fires this year.

I've had that happen for the Red Reserved pass, but Gold would really piss me off. Then when you're hiking to the stadium, you see all the empty spots where you could have parked in the parking you actually paid for.

Not sure what the deal was. But we sat there on the tailgate after the game, and I swear the line of cars trying to get out didn't move an inch for almost 45 minutes. Normally the first game is a bit of a mess, but that was the worst I've seen leaving.

Parking's been a mess since they did away with having it staffed by volunteers.

This isn't completely inaccurate. All they need are some cattle prods and a herd of Australian Shepherds to complete the feel.

Nope, they now use plastic fencing to prevent cars from breaking off and parking wherever. You're literally corralled to your stall.
