Let's talk window tint
Decided to have the windows tinted on my Grand Prix daily driver Monday. It's an 01 Grand Prix GTP, 2 door. Dark red, or almost a maroon color.

What percentage should I have the windows tinted? I know 35% is legal on the front windows in Missouri, but was wondering if I could get away with doing 20% all around without attracting too much attention from Johnny Law.

Maybe 35% up front, and 20% on the quarters and rear?

What do you all think?

I'm going to get mine done in the next few weeks. Went to get a quote and they said 165 for 25% all around.

35% isnt dark enough for me and none of my friends have been pulled over for having 15-25% on their cars.

That's the crappy quality tint at that price. Ask for ceramic if you don't want it fading, cracking or bubbling.

I was concerned with that as well but wanted to maintain legality so I went with 35/20.

I don't think there's a problem with it aesthetically.

Yes there is a meter that most State Troopers carry. I have had MO and FL State Troopers peel it off on the side of the road. Attorney said it was because it was the 2cd violation and if I tried to prosecute I would only be making my life harder.
After speaking to that lawyer I did find out that if you have a sensitivity to light the legal limits can be adjusted for your medical condition. Of course I went and seen the Dr. that my wife works for and shazaam I am now allowed to have 15% darker than state limits in MO and FL.

I've always wondered, how the hell does law enforcement determine if the tint is legal or not? Like say 30% is the legal amount and I go with 28%. How would law enforcement determine my window tent was illegal? Couldn't I just say, hey this is 30%, it's legal. Wouldn't law enforcement have to prove that my window tint is below 30%?

Yes if you would have read in the post prior to yours you would have seen that there is a metering device that police can and most do carry. It is U in shape and slides down over the window. It sends out light signals from one side and the amount of light the other side receives gives the officer the results on the spot instantly.

They have a meter reader that measures the light passing through the window with them. It gets calculated like the radar gun. From what I have heard, no one ever wins in court against it.
