You have options on the FireTV though. You can get an HBO NOW subscription directly from HBO instead of through Comcast, and it will work just fine. You have to sign up for it on an Apple device with your AppleID. But after you sign up, you can then sideload the HBO Go app on the FireTV, or use PlayOn, and enter your HBO Now credentials there.

Or you could simply load KODI/XBMC/SPMC onto your FireTV, and cancel your HBO subscription and watch for free.

There's always options......

I have had a chromecast since they came out. I love it. They are inexpensive but will cast just about anything to my tv, and I can cast from my phone, tablet, or laptop. It is incredibly easy to set up too. I also like the fact google backs it. They have the people to make just about anything work. Hell, pornhub will cast to it. At least I heard it would.
