Good article Breakdown of Chiefs Offense Problems

Sorry if repost. This article may already be located deep in some other thread.
I think it deserves it's own thread though. And since I am awesome, you are going to let it slide. Discuss more Alex Smith/ Andy Reid/ and OL hate here.

Got it, makes sense.

As long as there is a check down available, Smiths shitty ass will take it. Proof is in the pictures and breakdowns. Smith sucks ass and is always gonna take the easy way out.
No, i want him to make the right decisions, and sometimes that is a Check down.

Simply not giving him an outlet and forcing him to throw down field when nothing is there is a great way to lead to sacks and interceptions. That's an awful idea.

Forcing the ball when there's legitimately nothing there because he has no outlet....yeah im sure that'll go over REAL well.

That's all I am saying. don't give him the option to bail out and take the safe easy route.
And as i've said repeatedly, that will never work. He's not going to magically start hitting WR's downfield because you took away his checkdowns.

Instead, you'll get ints and sacks.

He needs to have all options available, which he's been given. NOW he needs to make the correct reads.

Reid gave him the plays, the players got open. Smith needs to make the right choices.

End of story.

Well history is showing you cant have it both ways... Either Reid has to make adjustments in the play design or we are gonna have to upgrade the OL and WR's to fit Smiths skill set.

Either way if this fails it on both Reid and Smith and both should be gone. Reid is a .610 lifetime coach. He doesn't scream championship caliber anyway.

The OL and WR's need to upgraded, regardless. That's a given.

Even still, that's not going to fix Smith. Its obvious that Bowe is still a good WR and can get open. Another WR isn't going to make Smith make better choices.

The only person who's going to make Smith better is Smith.

When it comes to Alex being too timid to throw beyond 10 yards... that's not Reid nor is it design as much as some want to pretend. Alex has taken his timid QB play to the next level of timidity. No other QB under Reid has been so timid throwing the ball. I'm not sure I've seen many QB's who seem scared to throw over 15 yards even when the guy is wide open.

KC brought in bizarro Marty, and we're going to reap marty like results.
It's been said before... but Alex Smith plays the QB position like a coward, at least in terms of decisions about where to throw the football.

That lets defenses be much, much more aggressive around the LOS and makes it really hard to run the ball effectively... screen pass effectively... make YAC plays off of short passes, etc.

Reid hand picked him, if he fails Reid also fails...

Looks like we are gonna have a big show down between the Reidcuses, Alexcuses and the Blowe Pops before this is all over...

When the dust settles, only one will be right.

Yet again....more Alex Smith excuses and bullshit.

It's hard to elevate a dead cat. For kicks, we added up the ProFootballFocus.com grades this fall for the top three wide receivers available, by playing time, to Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers and Colin Kaepernick, and compared that with what the Kansas City Chiefs have served up to quarterback Alex Smith.

Manning: +23.1
Brady: minus 8.7
Rivers: +9.9
Rodgers: +18.1
Kaepernick: +2.8
Average WR unit grade, by quarterback: +9.04.
Smith's guys: minus 9.0.

Now let's try the same trick, comparing the PFF grades of each signal-caller's top five offensive linemen, by playing time:
Manning: minus 0.2
Brady: minus 14.9
Rivers: minus 69.4
Rodgers: +48.7
Kaepernick: +22.4
Average OL grade, by quarterback: minus 2.68.
Smith's guys: minus 62.4.
So in the age-old question kicking around these days with No. 11 and the Chiefs' present malaise -- is it him, or is it them? -- the answer is both ... both, but with a strong, strong, strong lean toward "them."
I like how they neglect to mention that Rivers has a worse offensive line grade and Brady's WR group is on par with Smiths......yet they're playing just ****ing fine.

There was a bit that they aired for the game right after the bye week last year where Andy said he had a very very long conversation with Alex about how starting quarterbacks in this league need to throw deep to stay starters.

It's telling that he had to have that conversation with him in the first place and it seems painfully obvious that Smith is clearly back to his old ways.

I don't believe for a second that this is an Andy Reid issue...he didn't have this problem with McNabb, Vick or even with a rookie Nick Foles.

This is an Alex Smith issue and if he doesn't do his job, he won't finish 2015 as the starter.

Anyone that wants to argue that Smith isn't going anywhere needs to look at how Andy handled the Mike Vick situation. He gave Mike a 100 million dollar deal and benched him for a rookie a little over a year later.

If Andy doesn't believe Alex can win big games for him and do the things nessesary to do so, he will move on.

Bank on it.

Also, look at the receivers Reid brought in while in Philly and tell me he prefers an offense that only throws short...

We have speed, you just don't see it because they rarely get the ball.

You really are a ****ing idiot.

Avery and Jenkins are both speedsters.

DAT is a speedster.

Kelce is probably in the top 10 for TEs as far as speed is concerned.

Everyone knows Jamaal is one of the fastest out there...
