The new "Patriot Way?"

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/...-jailed-675432
A football fan with a Tom Brady helmet tattooed across his head is locked up in a Florida jail following his arrest on a narcotics charge.

St. Petersburg cops last month busted Victor Thompson, 46, for possession of Spice, the synthetic marijuana. Thompson allowed police to search his pockets after he was spotted trespassing outside a community center.

When questioned by police, Thompson said that he purchased the "Master Kush" Spice “from a black male for $15” at a downtown park, according to a police report. Thompson reportedly told cops that he did not know Spice was illegal in Florida, claiming that it was “still legal in New Hampshire,” his home state.

Thompson, who said that he moved to Florida three weeks prior to his September 10 arrest, was charged with felony drug possession and trespassing, a misdemeanor. He is being held in the Pinellas County jail in lieu of $1500 bond.

As noted in the “Scars, Marks, Tatoos or other distinguishing features” section of the report, Thompson has “Tattoo Head-Patriots Football Helmet.”

As seen in the above images (click to enlarge), Thompson had a series of tattoos inked on his head to make it appear that he is wearing a New England Patriots football helmet. Along with team logos on each side of his head, Thompson got Brady’s number 12 and the word “Patriots” inked on the back of his head. He added the name of the helmet maker (“Riddell”) on his forehead, as well as an American flag and an NFL logo.

Thompson even included the small green dot indicating that a helmet is equipped with an electronic device allowing its wearer to receive plays from the sideline.

Thompson also had a likeness of the Super Bowl trophy tattooed on the top of his head. Additionally, his noggin features inked replicas of the signatures of players Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker, and Randy Moss. Somehow, Thompson forgot to add Aaron Hernandez’s John Hancock to his cranium.

Jailers took four separate booking photos of Thompson so that his tattoos could be memorialized for possible future identification purposes.

It's the money of a dead man who made millions off a lie. Ventura lost contracts and money due to the defamation. He also had a much higher legal bar for his case being a public figure. He had prove malice. If she lost that money, it was her husband's own fault. As I understand there's enough in there for her and the kids anyway. But Kyle's witnesses made contradictory remarks. They weren't credible.

Ventura's reputation continues to suffer today because of it even as witnessed in here.

What lie did he makes millions from? honest question.

The only supposed lie here I'm aware of is whether or not he punched Ventura in the naval base bar.

Wait, you're dissing Ventura when you didn't know what the lawsuit was even about?

The only lie that matters is the one about Ventura. That's what the case was about.

BTW the wife's attorney's fees were all paid by insurance. The book made $6 million. Ventura was awarded $1.8 million and has to pay his legal team. To him it was the pursuit of truth and clearing his name.

I know why he was suing, all because some guy said he punched him, thats some pretty weak defamation if you ask me.

I just thought there was something more to the story that I was unaware of.

Jury was deadlocked for a week, then Ventura's legal team proposed accepting a 6-4 decision. Both parties agreed to abide an 8-2 decision, which eventually did come down 8-2 for Ventura.

Well, good for him I guess.

But I still dont see how some blurb in a book ruined his career or anything like that, anyone who was going to hire him before this surely would've hired him after.

It was a simple bar fight for cripe pete.

The book didn't name Ventura. But in appearances on Opie and Anthony and some cable 'news' show[s], he did name Ventura and added that, though they were both drunk at a wake of a fellow SEAL, Ventura said some of the SEALs deserved to be taken out.

Thing is, I find some degree of feather rustling between drunk Kyle and Ventura credible, but who really knows if a drunk Ventura said that, or if Kyle was exaggerating/fabricating it. Certainly we know;

1) The jury found for Ventura 8-2
2) The widow was defending the credibility of a person-to-person exchange with second-hand evidence.

No, the fight never happened. Kyle claimed to have punched him and knocked Ventura down. That's a lie. Kyle also accused Ventura of treason because he was against the Iraq War in so many words. Ventura took that seriously being former military and he lost contracts (money) over it too.

Ventura has to pay 2.5 years of legal fees out of the money. So he's not getting rich off of this poor widow. I heard him say he may go after the publisher for not using any diligence about whether it was true.

Ventura has a right to clear his name, regardless of anyone thinks it's weak defamation. You don't know the what kind of money he lost. It was decided by a jury in his favor. The media is driving the poor widow angle now.

That's just it, you're forwarding the falsehood still. So you can't say there's no damage. There was NO fight in that bar. Plus Ventura was accused of treason. You're saying what kind of money he would still make isn't for you to determine if he proved he lost contracts in court over it. Ventura claimed he did and he was humiliated by some of the treason charges. He can't ever go to another SEAL reunion again because of it.

You may think it's a dumb case but fair is fair. There was no acrimonious bar fight with "hero" Kyle, paid to kill by hiding in bushes, punching out a treasonous bastard and becoming unjustly enriched by the story.
