Reading Nothing But Positives About Our D Line

Either our o line isnt so great or our d line is gonna be nasty. Everyone i spoke to at the camp or anything ive read online says the d line looks completely dominant. Poe is a ****ing 340 lbs bear, Bailey looks HUGE at over 300 lbs and Catapano might be one of the leanest 295 lbs guys in the NFL. I heard all these guys are killing it and I heard maybe the MOST impressive of them all is Mike Devito! Hearing he is leaner and faster and has simply destroyed every drill against the o line. I was looking for pics and found these...any good pics of Devito? I'm excited about this defense and i wont lie......just a bit nervous about this o line for some reason but hopefully they prove otherwise.

That you would have rather drafted a QB bust over a productive, if somewhat unremarkable, Dlineman

Sanchez > Jackson

And even against aggressively strong guys like Bailey, a lot of offensive linemen aren't going to be able to hold them up for long. There's no redirection path they can use. These drills have got to be significantly more difficult for the offensive line than the defensive line.

So I also fail to see why people are jumping to this, "Our offensive line sucks" conclusion based on the reports from one drill from one day. I'm not hearing about our QBs getting fake sacked in 11 on 11, nor am I hearing about all the pressure they have to face.

Like others have said, we'll know more about our offensive line when preseason games start. And personally, I think we're going to be pleasantly surprised. They won't be the greatest unit out there, but I think they'll demonstrate that they can get the job done, especially if Hudson and Stephenson are completely healthy.
I always err on the side of optimism. I know that, and I'm okay with it.

I think Fisher still has the potential to be a legitimate elite left tackle. If he responds to his rookie struggles by becoming angry - more determined to prove himself - then I think he could be special. God knows he has the physical attributes. If he pairs that with a tenacious work ethic and determination, then he should be able to succeed.

I'm excited about Zac Fulton. If we can lock up a legit starter at sixth round money, it will go a long way toward helping shore up some other positions.

I think it's interesting that so many of our players came back in their best shape. Bailey, Catapano, Devito, Bowe, Kush. There clearly was a mandate to get bigger, stronger, and leaner, this offseason.

There's also no need for the DL to diagnose anything in the drill, just attack. If the DL is not winning nearly all the time in a 1 on 1 drill, you have big problems.

wrong

Tyson Jackson should have been drafted in the 2nd round but he wasn't/isn't shitty. The shitty label is a direct result from the anger at him being selected instead of a QB.

Yea but they have 2 things going against them. The Chiefs drafted them and 3 of them made the probowl.

That's one way of putting it. Another way would be to say that I'd rather invest that money in a position that will command it anyway. I'd rather have invested that high draft pick in a position that - if it hits - would have immeasurably more impact on the success of this franchise.

And if you want to invoke hindsight, I'd say I'd rather have invested a 3rd overall pick in a bust of a QB over a bust of a D-lineman, because at least there would have been hope for a couple of years instead of inexorable, devastating failure.

I mean, both players suck donkey balls. It's just more fun to have the QB than the 5-tech defensive end. And I'm kind of in this thing for the fun of it.

Yes, but the whole question is not "would you rather have Tyson Jackson on your team or Mark Sanchez?" or "which player would be a better pick in the second round?"

The question is who you would have taken with the 3rd overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft. Period.

And anyway, my only point is that if the Chiefs had drafted a shitty bust of a shitty quarterback instead of a shitty bust of a shitty defensive lineman, it would have taken some of the heat off the offensive line, and specifically the selection of Eric Fisher instead of a QB.

so you would rather 'take a shot' and get boom/bust than have a serviceable player at all.

Johnny Manziel > Dee Ford(or anyone else really)

Depends on the year and the team situation. Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.

Specifically those players for this team this year - no. Absolutely not. I'd MUCH rather have Dee Ford. Of course, I also despise Johnny Manziel and he wouldn't have been on my draft board anywhere.

fair enough

I would have drafted Geno Smith instead of Fisher last year.

Doesn't mean i'm not going to give Fisher a chance or hate him for it though.

Those guys aren't chopped liver from a draft status perspective (especially a second round guard and second round center - those are considered pretty high draft picks for those positions) and should be stepping up and performing to their draft status.

I have high hopes for both, especially Rod Hudson. Center is not an easy position to learn, especially at the NFL level but he is a very talented guy from a skill set perspective. (I personally though he was the best college interior lineman I'd seen since Will Shields at Nebraska. Both very similar in game play as well as size/length.)

Allen has a very good work ethic and skill set. I believe the light turns on for him this season.

This is the first solid post I think I've ever read from you.

Good job.

I don't know about that. Isn't Sanchez a metro sexual? Tyson Jackson was the biggest baby ever born in the state of Louisiana. You know his mom had to be pretty damn tough if that shit was vaginal. Jackson comes from tough genes. You can't really say Jackson was a pussy pick when you consider the side of his head. Dude destroys pussies.
