My Prediction For Breakout WR This Season

I was very impressed with Hemingway last year and wished he saw the field more. Hopefully this year he gets some more play. Between him seeing the field more and Kelce coming back I can see this offense open up a bit more. Sure handed WRs are always good in my book.

Well, he atleast in some fashion dominated a major - Big 10 - conference with his running ability and speed, that's how.

His routes look a bit loopy right now and his football stride looks like a young gazelle that's lucky to be within the pack, he also usually looks awkward reaching for the catch... but this guy to me looks like a latter bloom Eddie Kennison.

Keep throwing him in the fire, Mr. Moneyjew.

Hey, anything's possible. Maybe he'll get his 5th career 300 yard game, even. That would be special.

For those that don't like Hemingway... here are his measurables...

6'1" - Ok this one is average.
4.5 40 yard dash - also average
9 5/8 hands - average again

Now the rest get better....

225 weight - guy can take some hits
6.59 3 cone drill - best at the combine
3.98 20 yd shuttle - best at the combine
11.16 60 yd shuttle - best at the combine

The only real knock on him is that he has trouble learning the system quickly, which should be fine now that he has had a year

The only stellar thing about him is that he can FLAT OUT CATCH. He has better ball awareness than anyone on the team. Yes, better than Bowe. Oh and he is miles ahead of Bowe on blocking.

The problem is, he isn't going to replace Bowe so that makes him a bit redundant when we really need a speed guy. But he plays effectively inside and out so I'd be surprised if he doesn't see a ton more snaps this year regardless.

Been saying this since the '14 combine.

Has anyone ever in 9 years used the term "breakout WR" to refer to a receiver on an Alex Smith team?

And of course Kelce can also be a difference maker if his knee stays healthy. A stud pass catching TE is something we were missing last year.
