Raiders trade for Cap'n pick 6

@AdamSchefter: Oakland Raiders now are expected to trade a 2014 late-round pick to Houston Texans in exchange for QB Matt Schaub, per league source.

You rebuild with younger players. Not old ones. They can waste their money how ever they want, the fact remains that pretty much everyone they signed is old.

Holy Hell. $14.4MM cap hit and if the Raiders didn't trade for him he would have probably been cut and been signed for less.

Just because you have a ton of $ doesn't mean you should just ****ing waste it.

The Raiders are like a welfare family getting a $6000 tax return and buying a bass boat even though they don't live near a lake.

It's a smart, stabilizing move. Seems like McKenzie has decided that with all the cap room, he's going to sign vets to 2 year type deals, and then bring in young guys who the vets will help come along. So they should be competitive this year while still building for the post-Manning years, assuming all of the vets aren't washed up.

It's definitely a better plan than Carl and Herm had by dumping all of the veterans and just tossing young guys into the fire. The bottom line with them is going to be how well can McKenzie draft, which to this point has been a mixed bag...

I could be wrong, but there is a salary floor the Raiders need to hit based on the new CBA. So they can't do what we did a few years ago and just go bargain basement. They are actually forced to spend money...

I'd like the opportunity to thank Oakland for being so considerate as to help us bolster our PPG twice a year.

Schaub had a bad year last year- it happens to most players. Dude didnt just forget how to play QB. Lots of his int's last year were just dumb luck for the defense. Depends on what Oakland gave up for him.. Someone said the Raiders dont have a 5th rd pick.. So it's gotta be a 6th or 7th.. Thats a solid trade for a QB like Schaub.
There is no such as thing as a 90 percent passer rating.

It's just a 90 passer rating.

Yea there is one, it's probably why they took on that contract or they'd have to go sign some more guys to short big money deals to meet it.

That's actually a shitty spot to be in, yea they got cap room but when you have to meet a floor and you don't have anyone on your team to pay to keep around..you find yourself paying people just to not take a penalty.

Do welfare families normally got a $6,000 tax return?

Glad at least one Chiefs fan gets it. Time will tell how well it works out. Chiefs traded a second round pick for a lesser QB.
