Darius Byrd/Eric Berry Tandem Possible

Reports circulating about Chiefs having an interest in Jarius Byrd after Bills wont retain him. Imagine this and a top WR 1st round?
Sounds good to me if it can be done.

we were up 4 TDs in playoff game midway through the 3rd quarter.....a move of some sort MUST be made. This is NOT acceptable. Byrd is an option that should be looked at carefully and considered

Lets break this down.
1. apples/orange comparison. A slow cb (flowers) may very well be a fast FS. Speed (and injury at the position) was a reason Byrd was moved to FS after playing CB at Oregon.

2. "playing fast" has 2 components
a. mental: do you think Flowers isnt smart enough? I think most would disagree.
b. athletic: I've already shown that Flowers compares favorably to Byrd.

If the chiefs use Flowers as a single high deep safety, than the isnt going to take the pounding that he normally would take playing closer to the line of scrimmage.

Byrd is not free from injury problems, and has had more foot related injuries that can affect his speed. FLowers has had issues with swelling in both knees. As far as I know he hasnt ever had a tear, but likely needs scoped to clean things up.

You're right, its not acceptable... but there are other options out there who are arguably just as good or close to it who wont break the bank.

Wish away the day if you want, but both Dorsey and Reid have made it perfectly clear they don't see big splash FA signings as the right way to build a team... they might jump in like that once in a great while, but don't hope for it.

We have Cummings if Byrd gets hurt...if we are gonna let Albert walk then why not?.......id rather get him and get a rookie WR and OT in rds 1 and 3

technically the chiefs already have 2 first round wr on the roster in Bowe and AJ Jenkins, and another wr who was a high 2nd round pick (avery was #33 overall).

I really dont think a first round wr is necessary for a west coast offense. Historically less athletic wrs have thrived in theat offense (such as Jerry Rice) from having great hands and running precise routes since its a timing offense.

U dont think adding a guy like Brandin Cooks or Beckham Jr make the offense more explosive?

letting Albert walk and adding in the new extra salary cap $ should cover Byrd

sure, but explosive offenses can be stopped.....and I dont think the combo of whatever the chiefs have is as good as Decker/Welker/Thomas/Thomas.

Still think games are won in the trenches. Superbowl showed how seatle was able to win in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

Seattle's defense was built from the secondary to the front.
I wish people would understand that not everyone throws first round picks at the dline like they are bead necklaces at mardi gras.

Of course the fans and bloggers have interest. I haven't seen a single report about the Chiefs having interest.

I would love to be proven wrong, however, I'm going to assume that you've just projected your wishes into the OP.
