Luck Not All "THAT"

I'm in agreement with Phil Sims on this one. Luck is good, no doubt there. However, he might not be "all that.' In fact, he looked better last year. He misses far too many wide open receivers for various reasons, but he consistently misses them. I keep waiting for him to take over a big game, and raise the level of play of his teammates, but thus far this season - it hasn't happened. He might have all the tools, but he needs a lot of work. The dude reminds me of Eli Manning. Not bad at all - just not great. Just my take...

I liked what I saw from Satnzi in the preseason, but really, hoping to find a gem in the 5th round that turns into a franchise QB is a lot like going to a cheap cathouse for a 20 poke and hoping to **** a supermodel.

I don't disagree. I'm just considering how Pioli does things. If a stud fell to us, sure, Pioli might pull the trigger but I don't see us dealing to get one.

He may be all that. He may have a great football mind and all the tools.

I'm not a better talent scout than pro talent scouts.

What I can say is that every time I see the guy talk or a few quotes on the sideline I think "this guy is an unbelievable goober. He just looks and sounds like a dope..."

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Sounds like you could jump in the way back machine and talk about Terry Bradshaw.

I'd be curious to see how he'd look with some of Oregon's talent on the outside rather than the multiple-TE formations. Stanford looks to me like a team with solid line play, so he often has all kinds of time, but he has nobody at all at receiver. Chicken soup out of chicken shit. As a team, it's a little reminiscent to me of Trent Green's '03 Chiefs. O-line/QB/running game/TE. Although obviously he has way more tools than Green ever did.

In the NFL the separartion in talent from the best team to the worst team isn't nearly as wide as the separation in college.

So in college a team with more overall talent and team speed can compete and win games, and even championships, with QBs that will never see the field in the NFL.

In the NFL, QB seperates contenders from pretenders, and Luck will be that guy that seprarates his team from pretenders.
Obviously they do have the talent to compete with the big boys. They won a BCS game last year.

Might be a great comparison.

Terry was dumber than dirty carpet but could hit a dime forty yards down field...

You do know that Luck goes to Stanford, right? Most of the kids there aren't all that dumb.

Dudes top receiver, aside from TE Fleener, and was out. Give him a break. He's not surrounded with all world talent like the Oregon team. If not for him, that team wouldn't be top 25.

I don't give a rat's ass about being ranked in the top 10-15.

Luck is not a moron. Keep in mind he is also calling the plays at the los. Something the chiefs could use badly with the Muir, zorn, haley situation on play calling.

You said Stanford couldn't compete with the big boys. Virgina Tech has been one of the more successful teams the past decade. Continue to move the goal post.
