He had one good game, if "good game" is defined by going over 100 yards. It was a game the Chiefs lost because Smith couldn't pick up a 4th and inches. Other than that, the guy has done nothing (except get hurt frequently). He is easily replaced, IMO. |

I'd love to see what could happen with him if we had Shannahan as our HC.

I think Charles could have some big time stats in his future.
He's the type of guy that you get the ball to in space. He would've had a pretty damn solid rookie year, if we would've had a complete O-line that could generate some space for him. I think that's the key for Charles, he'll be a good role-playing back, and if we can get an O-line that can provide some space for him.... lookout. We'll also need a QB with the accuracy to hit him in stride and right in the numbers with passes. If we get Charles more involved in the passing game, which we should, then he doesn't need to be slowing down to catch balls behind him, or diving for overthrown balls. And with his size, a ball thrown too high, making him expose his ribs, or leave his feet, could be fatal. He's not Tony G, so you can't just lob it in his direction and hope for the best. That said, if our QB can lay out perfect passes for him, allowing him to catch it in stride, and at full speed, he could put up some serious YAC. Should be an excellent screen play back also. Roster wise, he should be one of three RB's that we use, IMO.

He's too fast and fumblers frequently. But I know that he will be something in the future.

Maybe Reid should start Davis and work Charles in to keep him healthy?
Kind if like how Haley did it with Thomas Jones and Charles Thoughts?

I'm just tired of him disappearing in our biggest games.

Trade the China Doll while his stock is still high. Get someone in here that can be fed the football without fear that his next play will be his last for either a couple weeks or the entire season.
Dude just doesn't have the durability. We bitch about him not getting enough touches, but then this happens to him, or the situation in the Indy game. Every time he gets tackled, I honestly expect him to be injured.

Not bench him.
But he's basically an overworked role player. Superstar talent, in a chandelier package

How so?
What good is Jamaal Charles when he can't play? Yeah, he accounted for a lot of production last season, and then what happened? Biggest game of the year, the playoff game. 6 plays into the game, dude's headed to the locker room. Easily biggest game for us this year, divisional opponent, huge game that we need, 2nd carry and dude's headed to the locker room. He's no good to us if he cant play, or has to be constantly limited in touches.
