Man. WSU has to regain their discipline on D. They are selling out on way too many steals. That just produces 4 on 5 looks. They made their hay by playing sound tough d. Its not there now.
Offense looks tough, but its still early and the shooters were cold. |

The loss sucked and I'm pissed, but it's kinda funny. Wichita State has won so many games lately that now you just kind of expect it, and they weren't even favored in this game. Sucks to lose a close game on the road in a hostile environment, in what was essentially Utah's Super Bowl (they had their one "stripe the arena" promo tonight), but I'd rather it happen in December than March.
Utah's defense shut Baker down and shut down a lot of our plays, but we missed a TON of wide open shots. Fred got hot late but this was one of the worst games of his career, and I don't expect a repeat any time soon. The rebounding was some of the worst I've ever seen under a Marshall-coached team.. they'll be working on that. A lot of good things will come from this loss. |

That 7 foot freshman from Austria was and will be a major force to be reckoned with. Wait until he matures and see what a load of headaches he'll be bringing. Wow.
Yeah the Shox had their chances there at the end but just didn't get it done. Van Vleet usually is money at the free throw line and missed. Not a great night for him but it was good to be in a close dogfight game. There haven't been many of those and they need to have a few like that. Good close game. |

Glad to see Wichita finally playing some good competition. If only their conference wasn't a steaming pile.

Pretty much agree with everyone here - difficult loss but I really believe this is for the best. You have to learn how to adjust after a loss and these guys have been on a 35 regular season winning streak.
Everyone has an off game, just wished it was against Newman or Northwood but hey Utah gave us a much needed test before valley play starts. Marshall will get these guys turned around and I have no doubt these guys will learn from this and continue to grow! GO SHOX! |

This team is ready for the MVC... There isn't a team that can match up with you guys. Now the NCAA will be a different animal. |

Was there any talk of WSU moving to the Big East or MWC during realignment a couple of years ago? One would think that moving to a conference of higher esteem would help WSU's longterm trajectory.

And Utah has outrebounded everyone this year. Don't think this was a fluke. As well, considering that Utah shot 50% from the free throw line and missed numerous front ends of one and ones, as well as that insanely stupid five second turnover, this game was closer at the end than it should have been. Larry Krystkowiak is a hell of a coach and he's nailed it recruiting guys like Delon Wright and Jakob Poeltl. |

Big East is probably a no go with us not being a private or catholic school and the MW isnt doable since we dont have football. We are kind of stuck in a hard place to try to move. I do hope they find something better but I have my doubts.
