Yes, I support quite a few computer labs that run various different Adobe CC 2014 suites. I packaged/installed/configured/tested the software on the machines myself. We use Minis in lots of different scenarios.
FYI.. all of the graphic design courses use Macs exclusively.

Those are big iMacs or Mac Pros with Apple Cinema displays. But the new Iris graphics in the mini is nothing to sneeze at...

You can build a great i7 4790 Z97 Pro machine for under $1k, which would allow you to upgrade to the next Intel CPU once they're released. "Building" a computer could not be any more simple and I'd highly recommend a quad core i7 over a dual core. |

Its simple math. Your getting less machine for more money. Even if you leave out the shitty proprietary business model. |

Had my 2013 mac mini and I just couldn't stand it anymore. IT just couldn't do anything I wanted it to do. It cant host my Plex, it cant play games. Really the only thing it was good for was learning the OS and surfing. Got myself a PC again a few months ago. I will never buy a Mac mini again.

I doubt I'll get a Mac. The bottom line for me is I don't know anything about them. And I'm only inclined to the Mini because of the price point. But I wonder if it's got the horses to do what I want. Whereas, I can spend the same amount and get a hot machine that I know will work, or do it myself and spend even less.
I gotta admit, I'm not very inclined to build my own anymore. |
