So I picked up the first two compendiums of Preacher on a whim. Just started in on it, looks very promising.

I loved it but I've got a very dark sense of humor (and there's plenty of that...)

Picked up Watchmen yesterday, and started on that. When I read something after seeing an adaptation of it, I always wonder if I would be able to pick up on things that were shown less subtly in the movie than in the book.

Zack Snyder did an amazing job with that movie in regards to adapting it to film from graphic novel. There are more than a few scenes in the flick straight out of the pages of the GN. Of course, there is way more content that never made it to screen....

The Walking Dead is pretty good. Y:The Last Man is one of my favs. Grant Morrison is an amazing writer - All Star Superman, any of his Batman stuff (Batman and Robin), WE3 (amazing mini-series).

Don't know if there is a thread for it, but saw you guys talking about the comic so I thought I'd post here...

Haven't read it yet. Based on everybody's rave reviews though, will definitely pick up this fall.

Finished Watchmen last week, and also watched the movie again.
I thought the GN was great. I didn't like the pirate comic within, and thought some of the side documents got old, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. The movie did make some changes, but none too bad. And as always, looking at Malin Ackerman in vinyl for two hours couldn't be all bad. But as with any book, the movie didn't stack up. For a couple of quick reads I picked up GNs of Shelley's Frankenstein and Wilde's "The Painting of Dorian Gray." Lazy way to read couple of classics, and they were both very quick reads, but both pretty cool. |

Spoiler!
That was just kind of a minor gripe. Overall, the art was great and the story was entertaining. I'd recommend it. |
