The Chiefs are going to have enough cap room that dumping Houston doesn't make sense. There's a point of diminishing returns on cap room. You wind up having too much and not having enough good players to use it on.

I probably would, but not for mayfield. Getting rid of Houston’s salary would be nice.

This is not the year to trade Houston. Next year it's going to happen, though. 21M to keep and 7M to trade/cut.
He has one year left on the Chiefs. Additionally, drafting a backup QB at 4 is the dumbest ****ing thing I might have ever read. |

Trade up to 4 and draft a QB? That’s beyond stupid. That’s ignorant. You get rid of your best linebacker and now would just have Ford and Tanoh.

Trade a top-3 guy from the defense so that you have to find two edge rushers instead of one this off season. Makes perfect sense especially since they might have a hard time finding one average to above average rusher in this group of FA or top two rounds of the draft.

Houston and our 2nd? **** no. If it was Houston for their 1st and 2nd, then I'd think about it. You know you're replacing Houston with the pick at #4. You have to get more than that to even consider it.
