Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Yeah that's when I said screw it and gave up the FFL after 7 years. The feds were throwing paperwork at us like it was going out of style. I really wasn't using the FFL for much so I said the hell with it. I just didn't have the time.

Heh had to pick this up at my LGS....wanted something 'different' and have enough black shotguns. Looks nice in person, you can't tell the zombie bit until you get close. The VersaMax system is pretty badass from what I hear, self adjusting and actually reduces the recoil of a 12 to close to a 20.
BTW something I saw on a listing in GB......... Quote:

You see when people 'dress up' guns like this it's not about making them more tactically capable, etc....it's about expression and that some people choose to express themselves through the look of their firearms. When you attack certain guns based upon how they look you're not attacking crime you're restricting peoples ability to express themselves as they choose. The zombie green color is just an extreme expression of that since one can't claim it improves function or makes it more 'lethal'. It is a firearm as a form of expression in it's purer form.

Price is what the parts cost me. Originally was going to build a TOP-of-LINE AR but decided I already have enough of them according to my girlfriend. This would be my answer, had it been included in rainman's woman hitting poll |

It's one bad thing about the gun community at times. They can be a bit derisive when you do appearance mods. As much as some of the tacticool and mall ninja stuff will make me go wth when taken to the extreme, I don't talk down about them. Why? Because in the legal tactical sense they are extremely valuable to the community. For the ridiculousness at times it's done as personal expression. That makes the legal arguments not just 2A but 1A too. So clearly we need more mall ninja!

BTW one observation playing with the versaMax semi-auto shotty. One comment people make about semi-autos and defense shotguns is that they'd rather have a pump because it's more reliable.
Every semi-auto shotgun also has a charging handle on it, which if you think about it can serve the exact same purpose as the pump action on a shotgun. If for some reason the semi-auto function fails you can still load it manually like a pump. Just a late night observation!

If you're not above buying 2nd hand shotguns - look for an old Remington 1100. They made a gazillion of 'em, and very, very few of them ever wore out. Buy a couple of O rings to fit (that's one part that does deteriorate - but they cost like 12 cents) and go bust up some birds, clay or feathery. I bought a 20 gauge 1100 while in college back in the 70's as my designated quail gun - it's still going strong. Picked up a 12 several years ago, they make a nice matched set.
I hate to admit it but I got tossed down the stairs at Buzzard Beach back in the 80s, when I was still a drinking man (and an obnoxious drunk) and it messed up my collarbone. Shotguns that bleed off a lot of recoil to load the next shell is a good cure for that particular malady. 1100's fall into that category - YMMV but they're good guns for me.

An auto gun you can expect a cyclic rate of about 1 round per sec. with a pumper , with practice, you can do about 3 rounds in 2 sec(it's going to hurt though and you have to make yourself do it). This type of speed is only useful in 1 type of situation though. |
