Last year proved exactly how valuable pitching is, and ours is getting worse losing shields. Outside of signing Tomas, our hitting will probably be about the same if we platoon Hunter/Peguero/Dyson... I'd just like to see our team attempt to IMPROVE this off season.

Denorfia would be fairly cheap (he made $2+M last year), he sucked last year but was a 4 WAR player in 2013. He has a career split of .292/.358/.430 vs LHP. Is a pretty good corner OF defender.

Not the worst backup plan in the world, but I wouldn't want it to be a primary approach.

Tomas's agent was not very enthusiastic at all about Tomas playing 3B in SF. Its obviously in his interest to have as many bidders as possible, so for him to have said anything at all to even slightly discourage a team was so surprising that I still remember it.

That is interesting. Today on Soren's show, Buster Olney basically said it was going to either be the Giants or the Phillies for Tomas.

I've heard Phillies all along. I would think the option to occasionally DH would be a draw to an AL team.

Tomas looks like a great fit for KC on paper. He is the RF power bat we need. Dyson runs as our fourth outfielder. Then make a move for Gettis and shore up the rotation with a guy like Masterson. Would like.

I'm just not crazy about giving the Braves a lot to acquire Evan Gattis. The HR power is nice, but he strikes out a bunch and really doesn't offer much value beyond his power. He's cheap, too, which is nice.

He's very similar to Mark Trumbo a few years ago, IMO. Lots of power, but you're going to overpay for it, I think.

Pretty sure the Royals are still on JUpton's no trade list but I wonder if they might try to re visit that and see if he'd change his mind...would be ideal in RF.
