That is one theory. Some of the stones did get transported VIA the nile, but not all. It's surprising how much they don't know.

Definitely the most interesting place I have ever been, highly recommended.

The only fact about the Pyramids is that absolutely no one outside of Egypt knows how they were built.

And they're full of $3it...

Right.

And all he's saying is that the people you talked to are not an unbiased source of information. They have a vested interest in telling people that the pyramids were built by free men and not slaves.

And all I've said is that is what they claim and I don't have the knowledge to dispute it.

The answer is that we used to think the pyramids were built by slaves (because of Herodotus), but archaeological evidence now shows they were paid workers. They were poor craftsmen who slept in company towns, lived lives or hard labor and died young, but they were paid for their work and were taken pretty good care of, considering.

Also, almost all the stone for the Great Pyramid was limestone which came either from just across the Nile or literally the ground right outside, not 600 miles away. What you're thinking of is the granite which was only used in some columns, the pavement, and the sarcophagus - that came from Aswan, but it was a miniscule percentage of the total amount of stone moved in. Most of it was shipped in to a long-filled-in harbor, and then rollered up to where it fit.

Sorry, Rausch and htismage. TheUte is right.

The archaeological evidence suggest they weren't built EXCLUSIVELY by slaves. The archaeological evidence has not proven that there were zero slaves involved.

And yes, the limestone used came from the opposite bank. The granite can from Aswan. It was still a considerable amount and it's still nearly 600 miles up river.

It's not racist to see trends in certain sociological groups. That's why they ask you what race you are when you take a census. It's racist to assume that someone or some group of people is inherently inferior, and therefore less valuable or should be considered less in some judgement because of that inferiority.

He's not saying that white people are inferior. He's saying that circumstances are such that the group committing the offense is mostly blind to the real world effect of words that have been used to defame or deride another group. The fact that the groups happen to be racially identified, instead of the millions of other ways we do this every day: union vs non union, republican vs democrat, catholic vs protestant, etc, is inconsequential.
