Not only that. If it turns out to be true, then I hope it is a ****ing disaster. I hope that the next three years of the Alex Smith era are such a ****ing disaster that it literally destroys the franchise. Clark sells the leftovers to AEG and they move the franchise to LA.

it's essentially the same move Vermeil made 10 years ago.
This time we are probably giving up much less. am I mad? Yeah. It wasn't Trent's fault we didn't win a playoff game in 03 or 05. Shit, if the Lions would have miracle'd against the Steelers in week 17 and the Chiefs got the Steelers #6 seed I really think they could have gone on the same run the Steelers went on...or at least win a playoff game. but yeah, that's essentially what we're getting. Smith = Green >>>>>>>>> Cassel THAT BEING SAID...I was really, really, really hoping I could buy a GENO Smith jersey in KC red...it would have been a big boost to my fan morale after the Pioli regime. Whether he developed into a franchise QB or not wouldn't have even mattered to me...it was hope and I'm not going to get that hope with Alex Smith. can we win with Alex Smith? We probably could but it's going to take the perfect team around him and a few bounces in any given season...which is something teams with REAL FRANCHISE QB'S don't need. so yeah, I could see us winning a playoff game and maybe getting lucky and doing some damage if we surround Smith with a perfect team and load up with a ton of quality picks trading out of #1... but Alex Smith can never be a QB that consistently wins the division for us and 11-13 games and makes us a Super Bowl contender year in and year out which is all I want as a Chiefs fan... so that's why I'm not happy about it but rationally speaking like I said earlier... Smith = Green >>>>>>>> Cassel |

This doesn't need to take 3 years. Not even remotely close. If they started now with a rookie QB, this draft had the depth to fill out ALL of their holes in the starting roster. Combined with another year of free agency + draft, and a rookie QB that has the jitters knocked out of him, they would be going after the division title and a playoff win or two in two seasons. At the WORST, they need three seasons to let the rookie that they have figure shit out. Maybe THEN they bring in a veteran to push his ass along, or they start that veteran. But ****, at least they'd be trying. |

The only saving grace is this hack website as the one pimping it.

Trent Green and Alex Smith aren't even in the same stratosphere.

You know what stupid. We only get smith for 1 year at 8.5 million. After next season if we want him again were gonna have to pay even more.

any team in the league could have signed him last year, none did
the 49ers benched him in order to get to the superbowl the Chiefs are going to TRADE for him instead of drafting a QB with the #1 pick i will pray for Clark to go bankrupt for the rest of my life

Unfortunately, after whatever period of rage, mourning, or other emotion that may manifest, I will still be a Chiefs fan no matter how I may feel about the moves now. I would hope that if this comes to pass KC will also pick up another young QB and then see what shakes out. It worked well for San Fran and Seattle last year.
