Now admittedly, I'm going from memory on his salary that year and how many games he missed so it may be high. It's probably nearer $4-5 million.
Right.

Berry was one of the last 1st rounders selected under the old CBA that paid rooks handsomely, was kept on the full salary as you've pointed out even though there was no obligation to do so...

Any claims made that he's been underpaid are a little bit hollow -especially since he's earned top safety money for being a run support guy first rather than an Ed Reed pass coverage type of monster.

I'm all for players getting every single penny they can from teams' -that's 100% acceptable due to the nature of the game they're playing that's the riskiest in all of Western sports.

But too many idiot GMs have ****ed up the market by handing out ludicrous deals...

What the hell did you expect him to say? And exactly why do you put any weight in what is little more than a form letter?

that window after the season is over is like 2 months, then you have to assign a franchise tag and in March it's free agent madness.

He will be dealing with Fisher, Poe and Berry in that window unless Dorsey can get Fisher or Poe to an extension during the season.

Best of luck to Dorsey, he's got his work cut out for him in early 2017.

Guaranteed either Fisher or Poe get an extension before the season ends. Maybe both.

Only Poe and Berry will be FA's though, and the franchise tag will be available again. I doubt Dorsey is sweating it. He's probably salivating thinking about all the picks we'll have.

Dorsey is in the true Marry/****/Kill scenario but instead it's Extension/Franchise Tag/Let Walk with Poe/Fisher/Berry

Fisher isn't a FA. It's not really that difficult of a situation IMO. Berry might've just made it easier.

Mo Wilkerson just signed an extension for $17 million per.

He has 36.5 sacks, Poe has 11.

Unless Poe has a monster year in 2016, he'll get $10 million per, tops.

And Berry would've had Dorsey next in line to do the same.

The Chiefs have paid Eric Berry $60 million over his time here and in that time he's given them 2 great seasons, 1 good season, 1 'meh' season and 2 (mostly) missed seasons.

As has been mentioned, Berry has spent pretty much his entire career being overpaid. Additionally, the Chiefs were extremely generous with him when they had no obligation to be.

And now he certainly appears to still be insisting on being the highest paid safety in football. That does not sit well with me at all.

Puts the responsibility on EB to sign the FP tender show up and play. We are loaded up for a SB run with Tamba, DJ, and Charles on likely their last yr (or two perhaps). No way they trade him. Pay him and play him and wave goodbye to him if it doesn't work next off season.

What irritates me is the fact that if there was one guy on the team that should have cut us a break it would be him. He got the big rookie deal and nothing but love from the Chiefs who paid him even for an entire season to recover from cancer.

He screwed us anyway. If we keep Fisher and Poe then I guess it's for the best.

It'd be a whole lot easier with an $11 million cap credit next season.

Just sayin'...

He didn't have to say anything. He could have made a simple statement saying they made a competitive offer that wasn't accepted by Berry and his reps.

I swear some of the posters on this board would fail miserably if they ever had to negotiate any type of contract. The emotions displayed by some in this thread are hilarious.
