I've heard about that film and have totally forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to check it out.

I read the book before the movie came out. If you like the movie, I highly, highly recommend the book if you can find it.
It wasn't your typical "Weekly Reader" Book Club selection. Then again, neither was Night and that was a WRBC selection also. I read that in 3rd grade.

Thanks, I'll try and seek out the novel. EDIT: just checked out the book on Amazon. From the description, the book has even more in common with the show Lost than the film does. |

Good movie. The book, Rocket Boys, which the movie is based on is even better. It's an excellent read. October Sky is actually an anagram of Rocket Boys.

Just watched the director's cut of The Frighteners. It was campy like earlier Peter Jackson horror/comedy flicks and a bit shitty at times but overall pretty enjoyable.

By chance, 'Funny Or Die' network? ...ever seen? HBO...? -- I'm in love w/ it, USUALLY, occassionally they'll entirely swing-n-miss.

I watched the first few a while back but ran into a nearly full episode of misses and kind of forgot about it. Probably need to catch up while they are still on On Demand. I was much more into the Ricky Gervais Show during that block of HBO comedy shows.

Sat through a Sy-Fy ghost movie called 100 Feet. Really, I just sat through it for Famke Janssen.
Flick was so-so, but the TV show Supernatural has really set the bar pretty high on ghost stories and such. Watch it if you're bored, or just woke up and feel like lounging, like I did. |

I saw this the other night. I could complain about the plot itself, it's resolution was kinda ehh, but the performances were phenomenal. The Hurt Locker comparisons work especially well, IMHO, because my only complaint with Hurt Locker was the way the actually story unfolded. Both are as much if not more about the journey than the destination.

THANK YOU. Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" is the most accurate portrayal of Holmes on screen (with the BBC film "Hound of the Baskervilles" probably right behind it). I was hoping the movie would spark interest in the old books so people could see past the false image of Holmes everyone's familiar with.

I watched Sherlock Holmes and Shutter Island this weekend and contrary to the local conventional wisdom, I guess, I liked them both.
