USA Today predicts Chiefs at 4-12 for 2014

I could see it happening but really 6-8 wins seems pretty doable.

AFC West

Broncos 12-4 (2): Could be better than 2013 team even if wins and offensive output dip. But schedule is murderous.

Chargers 8-8: Last year's schedule allowed late-season charge. This year's could easily produce late-season slide.

Chiefs 4-12: Tight salary cap meant crippling free agent defections, and they didn't sufficiently reload in draft.

Raiders 3-13: Best thing influx of over-the-hill vets can do is change culture. Carr, Mack promise brighter days ahead.

Throw in all of the epic internal turmoil AND a murder suicide? We should've felt gratified with a 6 win season.

Last season was massive progress, a quantum leap... if thats not enough to keep your fire burning then, well...
Last year was a fluke and everyone knows it. We beat a bunch of backup qb's to get 9 easy wins. When the competition got tough, we folded like a dime store suit.

Houston and Berry will demand top money for their respective positions. They each could have been traded for at least a third round pick -and probably higher- because they are more-or-less proven players under rookie contracts.

Jamaal would have been the hardest to move, but I'd rather get something for the guy rather than watch the poor bastard put up empty numbers on a team that's not going to win anything for the remainder of his healthy years as a running back.

The only guys getting screwed in this scenario are DJ and Hali. Can't make an omelette without cracking a few eggs.

Kansas City could have been in an absolutely perfect position to rebuild the team in such a way that they can be SB contender like Green Bay, San Francisco, Seattle or Indianapolis by getting whatever they could have got from the aforementioned veteran guys in terms of draft picks in 2013. They would have sucked, yeah, but they'd still be in a great position to draft in 2014.

Dwayne Bowe is gone? Keenan Allen was taken in the 3rd. No JC? Giovanni Bernard, Eddie Lacy, Le'Veon Bell were available in the second.

Dorsey could have had nearly limitless flexibility to shape the team into a contender if he displayed a quantum of patience. But he probably kowtowed to the Hunt family's desire to fill their coffers with a "win-now, catch all the right breaks and make it in as a wildcard" approach to roster construction.

Dear God, get a grip, man!

Show me a team that's been successful trading away elite players that are <25 years old. Shit, show me any team that let's those guys get away period.

The fact of the matter is you at least need a base in order to start a rebuild. We have some cornerstone guys that need to be extended. Houston, Berry and Poe are those guys.

It's not? Going from a complete dumpster fire of a team to one that played turn over free, efficient, competitive football against every team they faced is a pretty big flip. I'm sorry, but you guys are seriously dumber than all hell.

1) we played other NFL teams full of prideful veterans and plenty of other talented players.

2) yes, this defense with almost no experience in real pressure situations wilted down the stretch, they have a bit of experience with that now so we'll see.

I'm not interested in this tit for tat with you or anyone else really, theres a whole season left to play and we'll see who's right about what at the end of it.

I just consider the sources.

the same dumb asses who are crying now, were the same dumb asses crying then.

And at the end of the day, when the chiefs make the playoffs, there will be all the same excuses.

easy schedule, back up qbs, blah blah blah.

its the same shit, a different day.

I just laugh it off.

Point proven. A true broken record poster.

no matter how many times he is wrong.

chiefs wont win 8 games last year, to this year 7 games, to alex smith has no prayer of throwing 4 tds in a game, to alex smith could never do anything without jamal Charles and a dominant defense.

He is constantly wrong, yet, for some ****ing reason, people actually listen to this ass clown.
