Watched "Taken" last night. Even though Liam Neeson's emotions for his daughter seemed a bit contrived, I still enjoyed the movie.

Yes, it's just not a happy movie. Damn good performances.

I watched Timecrimes, based on good things I read online. It's a spanish film about one man's experience with time travel. I really enjoyed it. Makes you think...

Just watched The Road and it was pretty damn good. Very well done adaptation of the near flawless novel. Also well acted and seemed to have gotten the look of the environment right.

So recently I've seen:
Get Him to the Greek- Funny. The fat guy wasn't as funny as I had expected but the British dude and Diddy provided good comedy= 7.8 Splice- Terrible, terrible movie. I thought from the previews it would be a thriller; and about 15 minutes into the movie it seemed like it would be, but where it should have taken off like a rocket, it fell into the abysmal hole of crappiness= 3.6 Jonah Hex- Boooooring. The main character actually played a good role, Megan Fox was fine as hell, and the machine guns mounted on the horse were the only things good about this flick= 5.0 Forgetting Sarah Marshall- I've seen the main character guy in Knocked Up and thought he was pretty funny, but I thought he failed to carry his weight in a full length role= 4.5 Daybreakers- Kind of entertaining, but a fail overall= 5.2 Couples Retreat- Great comedy, loved the setting and plot= 8.3 9- I was really looking forward to this movie due to the reviews, but in the end I was left unsatisfied. It had good animation and great voice acting, but I just didn't like the plot= 6.6 Sherlock Holmes- Made Sherlock look cool, Robert Downey is definitely one of my favorite guys putting out movies these days= 8.9 The Blind Side- Who didn't love this movie?? Great feel good movie, throw in some football and a super fine Sandra Bullock and we're good to go!= 9.2 |

The Informant was good but not as funny as I was expecting. Note to Soderburgh, save the Ocean's music for Ocean's movies OK. Thanks. It did not fit well with this movie at all.

That new Sherlock Holmes movie was lame. Frankly, I don't even know why they called it Sherlock Holmes when it was basically Tony Stark in the Victorian Era with Jude Law in the Pepper Potts role.
I'm glad I didn't see it in the theater, and it was barely worth a rental. |
