I guess I can see that.
Like I said, it's a rental level flick. Had I bought it sight-unseen I would not be happy right now, because one viewing is enough. |

Watched Shutter Island tonight as well. Thought it was pretty good but not quite up to the very high Scorsese standards.

Watched a pretty neat horror/suspense/trippy weird thriller that's available on Netflix streaming last night. I can't really get into the plot without giving away too much but if you like mind benders that leave you thinking at the end this one is worth a watch. It's kind of like "Memento" but less stylish. My biggest complaint is that there wasn't enough meat in the plot.
Rated: 3.5/5 stars http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/Trian...4?trkid=921403 Let me know what you think if you happen to check it out.

FWIW, Winter's Bone won best picture at that film fest, so I think they probably skipped over it for best Southern Picture for that reason. Best documentary went to Restrepo.
Audience award went to Looking for Lurch.

State of Play: mediocre thriller with bitchy commentary on new vs. old media.

Yes, mediocre is the right word for it. I thought it was kind of weird too that they started the whole thing with the police simultaneously investigating, and getting into a dynamic with sharing information back and forth between reporters and police and then, after a while, they just sort of abandoned that whole story line.

I want to see Get him to the Greek even though I think Russell Brand is an overrated twat.

I thought "Running Scared" was pretty good. The couple with the toy room was creepy as hell. Nothing earth shattering but I wasn't disappointed I watched it by any means.
