Speaking as someone who hasn't owned a console since 2001, this has been pretty impressive.

Assuming you're a gamer, you're not the target audience for this (the press conference I mean). They're trying to sell the general public on this thing as an entertainment center. At least that's what it looks like to me, since there's been 30 minutes of living room and maybe 3 minutes of game. I would assume they expect gamers to buy this regardless, so they're shooting for the wider audience today, then doing the gamer hard sell at E3.

I don't know how you could watch that, and not be impressed by at least one thing. Even the presentation that Yusif did was pretty cool. While it seems tiny, the seamless transition that you can make between your entertainment devices is pretty damn cool. |

Apparently according to Spike TV the persistent internet rumor is now totally dead. But obviously watching that, all the cool shit the system can do will require the internet...

I'm looking to get the boy Tiger Woods for Xbox 360 and want to use the Kinect thing with the game. What was the first year that you could control with the Kinect, please?

Oh, so this explains EA dropping online passes:
Supposedly after you install an XBox one game on your console it will require a fee to install your copy on any other console will require a fee. |

I'll wait to pass too much judgement until E3. The console looks big and clunky, almost like an Alienware X53, which is impressive for a small home pc but for a gaming console, it takes steps backwards. Remember when the next gen of consoles was a good part of design as it was graphics, processing power, and games? I wanted to see an evolution of design, make it smaller and slicker looking. Gamespot hit the nail right on the head when they said it looks like a DVR box from 2004. It's flat, it's textureless, its bland, it's almost embarrassing.
I know you're teaming with Comcast, which I dont subscribe to. You teamed with the NFL, which I don't play fantasy football. You showed off sports games, which I don't play except when I go over to a buddies' house because whats the purpose in owning a sports game nowadays when the next one comes out the same time next year. Same with CoD, it's nice to see them try to take steps forward in the story route, but CoD isn't exclusive at all, and your claim that downloadable content will be exclusive for XBOX is what? A map, a new suit.... so thats why I should buy your system? Also a Halo TV series, if it turns out to be epic like GoT then sure, I'll bite, but it will probably just serve the fanboys of the series, and I can just torrent it on my PC so what advantage does that give it? And the only real exclusive you brought to the table is Quantum Break... I don't know what the hell this is so I'm intrigued just because I'm so oblivious, but since Remedy really hasn't done anything great since Max Payne, I'm less than optimistic. You showed the box, so kudos, and you had women on your stage because you learned from Playstation's conference so I'm glad you could pick up on that, but all you've given is words. You're trying to force Kinect into people's households, I don't give a damn about Kinect except when my fiance wants to play Just Dance. Like I said I'll reserve judgement until E3 to see these 15 exclusive games they're talking about, but after this conference, it's all just showboating, there's no hard evidence that this generation of gaming will amount to much than a .5 instead of an entirely new generation. |
