And then the comment about this young girl isn't interested in an old bag of bones like me ---- his boss says "he responds modestly".....hilarious

Which is why it probably isn't Shelby.

In the previews for next week, they show Hunter saying "Hi, Drew" to someone off camera. He looked like he was saying hi to someone he looks pretty comfortable with.
Shelby seems to be the obvious choice, but who else could it be? If it's not Major Dad, maybe it's Art (which would be ridiculous, but hilarious. No, it's not Art). |

They've put out a metric shitton of hints that it is Shelby. So the question is whether that's all been a red herring or not.

i imagine it's not. I don't think they'd lead the audience to the correct place.

Pretty interesting that Shelby, a guy who's spent his life in hiding from Tonin because he has the information needed to take him down, is now helping Ellen May hide from Boyd for the same reason.
But he's trying to pump her for information on Boyd, too, so he could take him down. Basically begging for her to do something he wish he could do: take down the person who's made every second of your life dangerous since you went into hiding. |

Also: Boyd has gotten deeper and deeper in this mess.
To get more business, he went in with Duffy. To get in with Duffy, he has to find Drew Thompson, which means he had to get in with the rich dudes from a couple episodes ago. To get out of that dead end, he had to get in with Theo Tonin. Something's going to have to give. Either Shelby is successfully murdered and Boyd becomes the guy in Kentucky crime, or Boyd will have to have a showdown with Theo Tonin. The crazy thing is, one of those moves will make him mortal enemies with Raylan. The other will make them allies. Both would be AWESOME, but the first option makes for an extremely intense Season 5 where it's Raylan vs. Boyd. |

Do you mean Wynn is successfully murdered instead of Shelby?

I think Boyd may be dead by the end of the season.
That snake handler's sister has to show back up at some point, and they've focused so much on him redeeming the Crowder family name for future generations, and now the engagement, everything just reads to me like he's not going to make it to the end. |
