Before the cancer thing, I was LEADING the group of posters that took endless shit for saying we should move on from Berry after his rookie deal because box safeties are extremely easy to replace.

But then he switched to free safety and got/beat cancer and showed the ability to be one of the elite players at his position and his presence kept the defense going even after Hali was hobbled, Houston went down, Bailey was hurt, Abdullah was out, etc.

His leadership and ability to make plays anywhere on the field is second to nobody in this league.

I went into this postseason thinking we should have no problem getting 2/3 of Smith/Howard/Berry inked long term and was leaning towards Smith and Berry, but I've moved from that by thinking we need to get Berry and Howard done and replace Smith in the draft or free agency...mostly due to age and demand.

I don't think i've ever seen Berry actually make a 'free safety' play. I don't remember Berry ever breaking up a sideline pass. Did Berry ever even stand there and make a centerfield interception?

I still contend that Berry is just a strong safety lining up deeper.

We waited too long to convert him to FS, he should probably just stay at SS.

Berry is one of the best SS in the league ... Chancellor,Berry?

Berry is probably the best run defender at safety, he's outstanding.

I just looked it up ... you're correct, nice inteception by Berry from the FS position.

Found another where Berry got an INT off a tip against the steelers.

What about the plays that he prevented? We had to be one of the best teams in the NFL at preventing big plays.
