Nolan's Batman 3 Title
Batman sequel 'Rises' again
LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008. The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D. Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title. Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales. Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP |

So I'm in work and just watched the prologue (again) and I finally think I understand it. I think the guy in the body bag is dead, and the reason they're siphoning blood away from the guy they're about to spirit away is so that his DNA is in the guy's body and they think that's him. I can't think of another reason for it, since the apparently-dead guy in the bodybag, as well as the lone hijacker who stays behind on purpose, are definitely bound for squashdom when they impact.

I kinda wanted to see Nolan take on The Riddler, but I'll be happy to settle for Bane, I guess.
Without ruining a bunch, does anyone know what Joseph Gordon-Levitt's doing? I mean, is he a main character or just a small part? (Trying to stay away from too much info/spoilers before it comes out, but I gotta know a bit haha) Quote:
I've never seen a movie in IMAX, but this one might have to be #1. No. Wish they hadn't killed him off in TDK ICE to see you! |

I thought I remembered reading something earlier this year where Nolan totally shit on the Grayson/Robin character... Coulda been totally bogus, but whatever. That'd be kinda weird to introduce a character like that in the last movie, too...
Either way, I've been waiting to see this since the end of TDK, which I had been waiting for since the end of BB. Really hope someone picks Batman up & gives it the proper treatment after Nolan & Bale move on. |

What we know about JGL's character is that he's a cop. Speculation is that he's probably one of the few cops that still believe in Batman after Batman takes the fall for Harvey Two-Face. I can't speak to that, as I'm trying to stay away from spoilers as much as possible. I've also read speculation (and it's pure speculation at this point) that JGL's character is either going to step up and replace Gordon or even possibly take over for Bruce Wayne as Batman. Obviously, that depends on how far Nolan takes the whole Bane storyline. But there are many that believe Nolan will kill off Bruce Wayne. But that, as he says in BB, Batman will live on as a symbol. Those folks believe that someone will take up the mantle after Bruce dies. Perhaps that's JGL. Again, this is all internet speculation and not at all based on any spoiler info that I've read. My guess is that he's going to be more of a Gordon replacement. We see Gordon seriously injured and in the hospital in the first TDKR trailer. Perhaps Gordon dies or has to retire (again, just speculation). If that's the case, someone at GPD is going to have to step up and help out ol' Bats. |

One rumor is JGL is Batman's willing sex toy. The second half deals with Batman's homosexuality, now public after JGL discloses to the press, and the people's initial shock. Batman makes several appearances on talk shows, and it concludes with a shocking scene in which he signs with Simon & Schuster a $2 million book deal.
