UK had a terrible schedule and was mired in the 50s of the computer ratings most of the year. They sucked well before losing Noel. Our computer ratings are extremely strong.

I'm worried about this team. This is exactly the kind of team that is likely to lose in the first round. Youth, their lack of ability to score in the half court, and their carelessness with the ball is likely to lead to an early exit this year IMO. (I know they did better today in the t/o category, but on the whole, they suck at taking care of the ball.)

Who is the go to guy? None of these guys can consistently make a jump shot. Take away lobs and layups and this team just really struggles to put the ball in the hoop. In the tourney teams are just going to pack it in and we'll struggle.

Yeah...I too found myself numb to to this loss. I was actually somewhat puzzled why I wasn't that upset about it...but you nailed it. Yesterday's event pretty much made me to care about sports for the rest of the week...

Our young fans are going to go beserk when we do finally miss the tourney. Most under 40 can't recall a time we were bad. In Teds two last years (1982 & 1983) we went 13-14 and 13-16. We lost all 9 games those two years to KSU and Mizzou. And the place was half empty for noncon games.

KU has a serious problem in their 3pt shooting game.

Selden and Wiggins simply aren't getting it done from that range. They're both much better when they're slashing to the basket attacking the rim.

Problem is do you put WhiteIII, Greene, or Frankamp in? At some point you have to be able to sink some 3's to get things going so KU can go on some runs here and there. IF teams are going to turn KU into a half court game, then they have to be able to shoot from downtown. Self has to change something.

Either way, this team needs to man up. It's going to be conference ball here shortly and KU can make up a lot of ground if they play right. I don't see them missing the tournament. I still think they're going to win the Big12 over OklaSt or ISU. It will be tough but they can sure as hell do it. They need to play better perimeter defense, because my god it's ****ing terrible right now.

You've got to get it to Embiid. The guy only got five shots, and he still scored a dozen and drew a ton of fouls. How do you not get the guy more touches when he scores or gets fouled every time he looks to score? That's much more likely to improve the half court offense than trying to become better three point shooters is.

Last week we ranked #1 in the NCAAs in two point FG percentage and #250 from deep. So we shoot 4-16 threes today in a tight loss vs someone that shot half that many and scored nearly all their points on dunks and stickbacks. Self got owned today.

Agreed. He needs to get the ball more. He either scores or gets somebody an open look nearly every time he touches it (not that KU hit a ton of those today).

Of course, he also needs to stay on the court longer and not get those ticky-tack fouls.

Wasn't his finest game as a coach, that's for sure. Fisher's doubling in the post absolutely destroyed our offense today and Self never adjusted to it. None of the post players could handle that pressure at all but Embiid (and he didn't get the ball anywhere near enough).

It seems like it should be easy to teach someone not to get cheap fouls, but I can't really remember any big men who had that problem and didn't always struggle with it.
