Chiefs are planning to retain Romeo Crennel and remove interim tag

Chiefs are planning to retain Romeo Crennel and remove interim tag from his title. Move would be popular in the locker room.

Your arguments aren't logical. You're saying Romeo deserves a strike for making a statement that Orton should start over Cassel. Those are the only two options he has right now, and Orton is clearly the better of the two.

If they don't make a move for a QB in the draft I doubt that'll be Romeo's fault.

The point is that Romeo has already stepped up and made comments that show he's not sold on or happy with Cassel. That's exactly what most of us have been hoping for, so how could that possibly be a strike against Romeo?

I don't have any specific link. I'm talking about how he made comments that Orton should be the starter next year (assuming he was talking about who he had currently on the roster) and he said some things during his press conferences, too, that sounded to me like he was sick and tired of drives being stalled by lousy QB play. Nothing directly that said "I don't think Cassel is it" in any way. He made lots of indirect comments about it, though.

But also the fact that the moment he was put in charge, Palko was immediately sent to the back of the line and Orton/Stanzi were moved up. That move, and his press conference statements, tell me that he doesn't want to screw around with the QB position and he's going to play the best player available regardless of anything going on around him.

If Cassel is truly the best QB they make available to him, then I'll be pissed. But the point still remains, that shouldn't be a strike against Romeo. That would be all Pioli.

Except that the block happened twice in the same game, by the same guy, doing the same thing.

Good coaches make adjustments.

I think judging the guy from one HC job in Cleveland, where coaches go to die, is a bad move.

Well, I would put that on the ST coach since he is in charge of setting up those alignments.

Well he has the chance to draft a QB and build a championship team. So the clock has started. Lets see if he ca start off on the right foot.

Also coaches have been coming here to die for some time now. Lets see if crennel can change that.

LOL at the notion that it's going to be Crennel to find the QB.

I think its more a matter of the fact that there's really no home run choices for coaches out there right now. I'm ok w/the choice as long as they hire good coordinators. He's got the lockerroom on his side right now, and that counts for something, IMO.

Romeo can't come right out and throw Cassel under the bus, but he obviously talks with Tamba as a defensive coach and as a football player and the moment Haley was fired Tamba came out with comment after comment about "needing to solidify the quarterback position" and how "having a quarterback that can extend drives can win you a lot of games. We haven't had that for years"

Romeo has made some comments, too. But as a dc, it was not his place to comment on those things. Now, it will be interesting to see which direction he goes with the media when they ask about Cassel.

I'd also like to say again that Romeo pushed for the trade up to take Quinn....and given they overspent in draft value to get it done tells me that he isn't afraid to make the exact type of move a lot of us have been clamoring for.

HOPE is good.
