The Noble Pils is a damned good beer. Had it in the brewmasters sampler pack a couple weeks ago.

The Noble Pils is the best thing Sam Adams has put out since their all-Hallartau Imperial Pilsner from a couple of years ago. Noble Pils is in the top 5, maybe top 3, American pilsners I've ever had. Its also a great instructional beer for learning how different hops taste, since it features only European noble hops (saaz, hallartau, spalt, tetenang).

No, it comes from the hops. Pine is just about the most common lupulin flavor. The citrus component comes from the hop lupulin too. As does the floral flavors. Hops provide just about all the fruit or vegetal flavors in beer.

no clue, i'd just never tasted it quite so pronounced....it was weird, almost a savory as opposed to sweet beer....i'd had a few beers already, so my memory could be spotty too..but i would have gladly drank several more if it weren't a sunday night...

If you like that piney, citrusy thing (aka the flavor of hops, baby) then go and drink some pale ales and india pale ales. IPAs are loaded with delicious lupulin (the pollen like powder found in hop flowers) tastes.

My second ever bottle of Sailor Jerrys Rum... ahoy, avast, aye-aye yoho! a plunderin we go1
The first bottle about 1 month ago, went down sooo smooth & i was sooo fooled... that i ended up sliding, 90% involuntarily, out of my chair & onto the floor for atleast an hour, til i could crawl nto bed, i thought i'd been hit with a horse tranqulizer, completely unexpected & unintended. Honestly, havent felt like that since maybe HS sophomore year... gather your thoughts & gird your loins with this stuff, i'm currently on guard against its effects, but that drunken bastard could crawl in under the wire at any time... |

I had some Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale and some Sam Adams Noble Pils throughout the course of the night.

A couple of Sam Adams Noble Pils followed by a Bell's HopSlam. YES, I still have some HopSlam left. I bought a shit ton of it because its a once-per-year release. I am down to three bottles. Such sadness.

More Sam Adams Noble Pils. I'm sad that this is a seasonal release; it needs to be available year-round. Right up there with the classic Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for the best value amongst widely-available session beers.

I'm going to take one of my 2008 Schlafly Reserve Imperial Stouts from my cellar and drink it tonight.
