Alex Smith Appreciation Thread

The wide receivers are garbage, the line sucks and yet he still somehow manages to march this pile of crap up and down the field.

AND TO ANYONE WHO THINKS HE IS A PROBLEM - YOU'RE AND IDIOT!

Harris is going to have a tough time getting on the field if Smith has to tell him where to line up on every play.

True. But they're not getting rid of the 3 TE formatiom any time soon.

Two really good games in a row for Alex. Cant remember the last time he did that, if ever.

I am nervous for next weekend, but if we (Alex included) play like we did last night, we can beat the Niners on the road.

It would help if Bowe didn't have to body-catch everything

Kelce catching with his hands makes hitting him in-stride so much easier

*sigh*

Been too long now, i doubt Bowe can change

Yep, Alex was more than a game manager tonight. Great job.

So, how about that offensive line? I keep hearing the line is crap. Looked beastly tonight.
The line is crap... or at least it should be. There is no logical explanation for the way they played tonight against a very good Patriots defensive line. Forget calling Reid a QB guru... he's a freaking o line guru. Line vastly improved last year as the season went along... then they lost everyone worth anything... brought in a bunch of nobodies 2 days before the start of the season and they looked fantastic last night.

We'll see how they hold up against the cowboy (Justin Smith) & company though. This will be a very big test for that patchwork quilt of an offensive line.

this. There wasn't anything much different about his play from any other week. He read the defense, made high percentage throws, was smart with the football, moved the chains, controlled the clock, kept brady off the field, and built a lead. Second half was primarily all running plays to grind the clock and collect the W. Pretty standard game for Smith. This is what he does. It's not very flashy but it can be very effective. Great team win by all. Line was great, running backs were great, receivers were great (only 2 drops by Hammond and Fasano), BOWE LOOKED LIKE HE GAVE A **** (the key here is just to play on national television every week. That seems to be when Bowe decides to try), the defense looked very strong, the game plan was extensive and well done on both sides of the ball. Great team win. I wouldn't call Smith masterful in that win. That was a very normal game for smith in my opinion.

did you hear the reporter ask belicheck in the post game if there was a QB controversy in NE now (alluding to the fact that the backup came in and moved the ball effectively during garbage time).

Bellicheck just did a double take, rolled his eyes and didn't answer the question - like, "who let that guy in?".

Hilarious.

Nor should they. I just hope that Harris keeps improving. It would be nice to be able to get rid of Fasano next offseason and bring in a 3rd TE.

Exactly. At some point you will realize that this is actually a good thing that many other teams around the league struggle at doing.

I loved the quote from Andy Reid last night as relayed by Chucky. That Reid said he keeps giving Alex more things to do and he can't find a limit to Alex's mental ability, he just absorbs it all and to runs them.
