Former Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham will not be eligible to play at Oklahoma this season.

The Sooners announced Friday on Twitter that its waiver request for immediate eligibility under the NCAA’s run-off rule had been denied.

“The University accepts that decision and will continue to provide the appropriate assistance to Dorial, just as it does with other students, in helping him grow personally from the many opportunities available to him at OU,” the statement from Oklahoma football’s Twitter account (@OU_Football) read, in part.

University of Oklahoma Statement on Dorial Green-Beckham Ruling by NCAA pic.twitter.com/U2cfG4Fk9c

— Oklahoma Football (@OU_Football) August 23, 2014
Green-Beckham — a 6-foot-6, 225-pound target who came to Missouri as one of the nation’s top recruits — was dismissed by Tigers coach Gary Pinkel in April.

He led Missouri in receptions (59) and receiving touchdowns (12) and finished second in receiving yards (883) as a sophomore last season.

Green-Beckham was the target of a burglary and assault investigation by the Columbia Police Department for reportedly forcing his way into an off-campus apartment and pushing a young woman down some stairs.

He wasn’t charged with a crime after witnesses refused to cooperate with police.

Green-Beckham was arrested twice during his Missouri career for marijuana possession.

He pled guilty to second-degree trespassing after an October 2012 arrest in a parking lot near Memorial Stadium.

Green-Beckham also was arrested in January 2014 for alleged possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in Springfield, Mo.

Oklahoma had petitioned the NCAA for eligibility this season under the run-off rule, which was implemented to protect players who were removed from their program for reasons beyond their control — usually a loss of a scholarship or conflicts with a coach.

Players who run-off but are in good academic standing can gain immediate eligibility, but the NCAA didn’t buy the argument that, because he wasn’t charged in the April incident, he qualified for the special exemption.

But considering that Alden tries to sell his department as being squeaky clean (because let's be honest, his department has a lot of good/very good programs but doesn't have a lot of EXCELLENCE in programs) and his initial interviews with Loftin surely highlighted those types of things (compliance, graduation rates, grades)...

Alden has got to be on the hot seat. I'm sure Loftin didn't enjoy his first 8-9 months on the job featuring Mizzou athletes in the news around a dozen times for various, serious behavioral issues.

Loftin spoke yesterday and said an internal investigation - that included speaking with the soccer player who was reportedly threatened with a yanked scholarship if she filed assault charges against Washington - refuted the allegations surrounding the incident with the soccer player (who is long graduated and gone and has little incentive to protect the AD at this point). But the rest of the new allegations are still highly troubling.
Refreshing honesty. A real rarity on that side, as these threads normally prove. They'll prob now accuse you of being a "secret KU fan" like they did to PackerInMo

Lol. Duncan is spot on. Alden for whatever reason has Kevlar on at Mizzou, and it shouldn't be the case at all.

And PackerInMo just (not so) secretly hates the Tigers.

It was an honest take. And one I'm sure any actual fan and not just here for troll/smack would have as well. Derrick Washington was/is a piece of shit. And it's terribly concerning that we're seeing a trend at not only Mizzou, but across the board in the big $$$ college sports that there is often a blind eye turned and no consequence for actions. It's both disgusting and disturbing. I personally think Alden has overstayed his welcome, but then again I thought that a couple years ago as well. I wish this would be the nail in his coffin.

On another note, your comment that it was a "real rarity" is complete pot calling kettle black.

I think most fans would agree with duncan.

packer does not appear to like the Tigers, though.

Michael Sam sacks Johnny Manziel, flashes “show me the money” celebration

St. Louis Rams defensive end Michael Sam flashed a nice speed rush to run around Cleveland Browns right tackle Martin Wallace to sack quarterback Johnny Manziel and force a punt in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s preseason matchup.

After Sam dropped Manziel on the play, he jumped to his feet and began celebrating by using Manziel’s “show me the money” celebration, raising both hands to the air and rubbing his fingers together.

Manziel had previously used the gesture himself earlier in the half after scoring on a 7-yard scramble for a touchdown.

The sack was Sam’s second of the preseason, having also picked up a sack last week against the Green Bay Packers. Sam had said he believes he can play in this league and he’s looked fully capable of holding his own and performing in stretches this preseason.

With Sam in a battle for one of few remaining roster spots along the Rams defensive line, he continues to show flashes of ability that could help him earn his way onto the 53-man roster.

It's wonderful listening to Kevin keitzman everyday leading Mizzou into the SEC. A true ally you've got there.

It's usually only a backhanded compliment to make K-State and the Big 12 look better.

Not quite. Apparently now there are forces within the SEC that are getting espn to target mizzou over this whole title IX / sexual assault stuff.

He's all in on mizzou's side and sounds like Sean hannity while he does it.
