Thoughts on Jordan Lucas?

Had a good game against the Jaggs and last week a lot of people were impressed with his performance against the Pats. With Seth Keysor even calling him a "Godsend" on a recent podcast I listened to. So what's everyone thoughts on this guy? Is he a step up from Murray and Sorenson? Could he be a quality partner for Berry If/when he returns?

With all the heat that the defense has taken lately, he seems to have flown under the radar.

Yeah, 'Damn Good' is going way overboard.

But he did show improvement throughout that season, IMO. Enough so that I didn't think it was unreasonable to give him a shot at a larger role. And right about the time he looked to maybe be growing into that, he got hurt and his athleticism never really came back.

It sucked because the dude had every measurable you could ask for and it seemed like he had the right attitude. But I don't think he truly recovered from that knee.

I'm not sure he's a genuinely good player, but he isn't a bad one and that's a step up from what we've had.
What's nice is he's only 25, so if he gets enough snaps he could develop into an actually good player

I'm with you on this. While Parker will tackle, he's getting a little long in the tooth. I'm still confused why we don't see more of O'Daniel. Wasn't he supposed to be Sorensen's replacement?

I meant damn good for a rookie playing inside, which IMO is more difficult for a young guy.

You clearly didn’t watch him his rookie year if you think he “sucked”.

By the way I’ve been meaning to ask you, is Khalil Mack still not a dominant player?

Parker's been literally tossed to the ground at least twice this year.

It seems with time he's become more willing and less able as a tackler. 3-4 years ago he wouldn't so much as attempt to put his body in there. Nowadays he seems willing to give it a shot, but he's just getting tossed like a rag doll.

He's taking chances because his athletic ability is declining and he's getting beat quite a bit. It's time to call it a day with ol' Parker. He made a damn nice career for himself but it's pretty clear at the end.

Who are you going to put in his place since Sorensen isn't back yet? Do you put Lucas in his spot and give Murray the nod at FS?

Dude, you're trippin'. He was never able to tackle adequately save for a few plays once in awhile. His inability to turn and look for the ball was evident in college as he only had 1 career interception.

His knee had nothing to do with the fact that he couldn't locate the ball, ever. And that's what ultimately killed him (absolutely embarrassed him actually) in the NFL. He may have had the worst ball skills ive ever seen in a Chiefs CB.

And i'm not a guy who puts a big emphasis on a corner's tackling ability, but his was so ****ing bad that it warrants criticism.

The only thing he EVER did well was run a good 40, and he was able to trail some receivers IF he stared them down the whole play. Which of course killed his awareness in zones and amplified his inability to play the ball.

Oh right now? Nobody. He is, sadly, the best option we have.

I don't think you can roll Murray and Lucas out there as the two safeties. Way too little experience there. If we had LBs I trusted, maybe I'd take that chance but with the ILBs being a tire fire, you can't do it.

No, Parker's presently a necessary evil. Even with a healthy Murray I'd keep Parker out there alongside Lucas. But when Sorensen is back, Parker needs to sit. I hope he still remembers how to play special teams...
