Headed to Dallas. Looking for the best brisket.

So I'm headed to Dallas in a week or so. I'm going to be there long enough to try out a couple of places. While we here in KC rule the rib world IMO, I'm told Texas is the king of the brisket. What Y'ALL got for bbq restaurant picks? If you have some other great restaurant thats not bbq, I'll take that too.

BBQ sucks. Ok maybe at least average food, but certainly not worth the smoky farts

Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum or Lockhart’s in Bishop Arts. I know you’re going to Texas and want some Texas style barbecue, but 18th and Vine is a KC style BBQ joint in Dallas run by a guy from Kansas City and it actually got voted one of the best barbecue places in the city.

We ate at Lockharts when we went to the Chiefs-Cowboys game last year. Phenomenal food!

Pecan Lodge and Lockharts are correct answers. Rudy's is fast food bbq. You can rest assured that anybody who recommends Rudy's doesn't know bbq.

Deep Ellum is a really cool neighborhood and it’s been revitalized a lot but if you go there at night take an Uber and be careful. A lot of the parking lots aren’t very well lit and Deep Ellum is an area that attracts a lot of panhandlers and sketchy characters. As long as you don’t get drunk and wander around you should be fine.

I would go to Bishop Arts in Oak Cliff where Lockhart’s is for Mexican and other food options. Plus it’s a really cool historic neighborhood. You can visit the boardinghouse Lee Harvey Oswald was living in and the Texas theater where he was captured in is still there.

I was living in North Oak Cliff before I came hear to work in China and I loved it.

Black's BBQ in Lockhart is better than all.

what the actual **** ?!

Texas is the size of France and has nearly 30 million documented citizens. I'd rather you blow mesquite smoke up my ass than try to tell me this state has a top 10 BBQ list.....AND THEN to suggest many of them are in ****ING AUSTIN!!!!!

two words: GET FUKT!!

You're bound to find some legit 'Cue' in Dallas but in my humble opinion, Fort Worth is a more representative Texas City....at least they have ****ing cattle in the city limits.

But please don't tell me that the best BBQ Texas has to offer is limited to its biggest cities....maybe most expensive BBQ....but not best.

I've been to at least two restaurants in Wichita Falls where diners are actually wearing spurs on their REAL cowboy boots. ****ING SPURS!

Now that's TEXAS

YEE HAW Mutherfukcers!!

I was very disappointed in Black’s and the other Lockhart places. Old school atmosphere and walking through the smokehouse was cool but the bbq didn’t hold up to the newer good places.

Cattleack is probably the best DFW brisket but check their hours and prepare for a possibly long line. Pecan Lodge is also up there but feel it’s dropped a little bit over the years and can be a little inconsistent. Hutchins is also great if you are in the northern suburbs. I’ve only tried the McKinney location but they have another in Frisco.

For those more used to KC brisket just a heads up that you may want to specify lean. For some reason many down here like the fatty side of the brisket referred to as moist.

Stay far away from any Rudy’s. Complete garbage.

Never met anyone who didn’t love Feedstore BBQ in Southlake. Look it up. Probably your safest choice for BBQ in the area. People have this idea that Texas is a great place to get BBQ. In general, it’s really not. I’ve had better BBQ in many other places than TX. Florida being the only place I’ve had worse BBQ than TX. Good luck!

Ps- Hi Archie!
