This is silly. We are better with Peters and his play doesn't excuse others. Also, as mentioned, plenty of guys still couldn't tackle today and the 4th quarter had plenty of tackles that didn't involve full commitment.

I'm not saying Peters didn't deserve what he got. He needed a reset. However the idea that the issues started and ended there is silly.

People are confusing the message sent vs. the absence of Peters. Peters being out didn't make us better. Giving a wakeup call to an ENTIRE group that needed it, not just Peters, is more likely what created today.

Don't get me wrong, I was all over Peters for his actions. I'm no Peters apologist. Peters has his own issues that need to be fixed, but the defense has other issues. Hell they showed up in the fourth quarter when plenty of guys couldn't tackle. Yet those that want to neatly pin it all on one player seem to be ignoring the crap fest that Sorensen and Parker put on in this game.

Hell, Parker literally got up and laughed with Lynch for Lynch running him over for a TD. Imagine Peters did that. He would get the shit he deserves, yet people in this thread make no mention of it and act like Peters gone fixed all that.

Because the story shouldn't be this defense minus Peters. It should be this defense getting a wakeup call that nobody is getting a pass. They hit rock bottom with the Jets game and Peters actions. The move gave them all a kick in the pants. The idea that just taking away Peters created this is crazy.
