Here we go, one of the games we circled this year.... although I don't think anyone expected us to be headed back home for this one at 5-0, or for Pittsburgh to be 3-2.

We know the story. They had our number in 2016 with two crushing losses. A lot has changed in 9 months, though....

For one, quarterback play. Alex Smith 2.0 is legitimately playing like the best QB in the NFL right now. Ben Roethlisberger, coming off of a 5 interception performance, looks like one of the worst. He also showed his dramatic nature yesterday when he questioned if he had what it takes anymore toward the media.

Pittsburgh currently has the 28th ranked run defense in the NFL, and Kareem Hunt is playing like the NFL's best RB. Seems like a good recipe for us, especially since Mitch Morse and/or LDT should be back for Sunday. I would guess only Morse. Le'Veon Bell is not playing up to his normal standards thus far, as he has only looked dominant in one game. However, this looks like a tough matchup for us there, as we are the 20th ranked run defense and coming off of a bad performance Sunday night in that regard. Both offensive lines are solid groups, although Pittsburgh's has not been as dominant as they were last year.

Pittsburgh has the #1 ranked pass defense right now. Part of that likely stems from their quality of opponents so far. However, we are going to need Kelce Sunday. If the Chiefs have their three-headed monster against Pittsburgh, they are going to be able to put up points. I think they would against about anyone, if Smith is given serviceable pass protection.

Our pass defense is struggling statistically, although anyone who watched last night could tell you that they were almost always in position to make plays on the back end. The Houston receivers always made the play, though, unfortunately. The Chiefs could really use the boost of Dee Ford and Tamba Hali to help bring pressure off of both edges consistently. I think we will probably see Dee this week, but who knows. The great thing about being 5-0 right now is they still have a lot of room to improve. The defense is no where near as good as they can be. Hopefully they hit stride down the stretch in Dec/Jan when the temps drop down.

Predictions are highly dependent on injuries, but because of all of the drama in Pittsburgh right now and KC being at home-- I am taking KC.

Am i the only one worried about Bell running all over us? Maybe Sutton can adjust? I mean how many obvious run plays were ran by Houston that KC could not stop them...and Bell is better than Houston's RB's.

When was the last time the Chiefs beat the Steelers when Ben was QB? I know they beat them a couple of years ago in Arrowhead but I think Landry Jones was QB in that game.

Just curious.

Before the season I had this marked as a big ugly "L."

Now Pitt looks like shit. Horrible.

Big Ben has always been worse on the road but he's absolutely terrible on the road this year...

Pitt will play up, the Chiefs will play down to their level. Same as it ever was.

Hunt is the difference in this game....

also..."Roethlisberger ranks dead last in PFF's deep-passing metric, just behind Blake Bortles. On the season, Big Ben is 5 of 27 for 183 yards with no touchdowns, two interceptions and a passer rating of 24.5 on attempts at least 20 yards downfield."

Nothing about this year, for either team, is "same as it ever was."

Bell will probably have a season high vs. us but we continue to score vs. that mediocre D Ben will have to air it out.

We had the perfect game plan on D vs. them in the playoff game last year. The offense just couldn't put jack squat together until it was too late...

The Pitt D has had Alex's number. They seem to have a gift for confusing his pre-snap reads.

Will be a fun reunion this time, if the OL handles its business, and the D can hold Pitt to under 30.

Very true.

However, in the past Alex was risk averse. He wouldn't go down field. The Pitt weakness for years has been the deep ball and we just didn't do it.

Now we do. And if Kelcee is healthy we do it well...
