So, uh ... 6 years, $150M for Moose? Unrealistic thought of the moment: Matching 6 year, $150M contracts for Moose/Hos and 4 years, $80M for Cain ought to do it, assuming they'd all take modest 'hometown' discounts.
Won't happen, but why not keep this incredible core together? Moose, Hos, Salvy, Cain are proven winners, and you can surround them with the likes of Whit, Mondesi, Soler, etc I wouldn't hate if Dayton offered both Moose/Hos 6/150 ... both still young, and that TV contract is coming, we can handle paying $50M/year to those guys. |

I think Cain at 4/80 is fine, as well ... as he reminds me a bit of Torii Hunter. His defense will slow, and you may end up with him in RF, but his bat is valuable and I think he still has at least 2 years left of elite defense/speed combo before the wheels fall off.
If we end up losing on a Hos extension and he turns into Joe Mauer, I still think two 6/150 contracts for those two guys who brought baseball back to KC is totally fair and worth it. |

Why do you say that?
Gordon wasn't going to resign, either. Your using your 2001 Royals sensibilities and applying them to this bunch. I think David Glass, who is pushing dead, really bought in to baseball and this core from 2014 - 2015 and he's spent money proving so every year along the way. Matching contract offers to Moose/Hos WILL happen (IMHO), but will they take it when Moose could probably get $200M somewhere if he hits 45 bombs? We'll see. The whole 'he wants to play in LA' narrative you've been pushing the past few weeks is nothing but projecting. Just like me. |
