This is another bad post by Laz. Just like the LDT post.

Parker is not a JAG and neither is LDT. Parker is one of the best coverage safeties in the league and it was proven by analysis that LDT was one of the best pass blocking G's in football last year, and he actually was pretty good his first year starting in 2015 as well.

He's replaceable, but not completely fungible.

Iirc Even if a player was undrafted, the team can still tender him higher that would get the team a draft pick in exchange...but it costs more money to do so.

I believe that Sorenson is a guy that will always be where he's supposed to be and he'll give you everything he's got on every play. But, he's not a guy that is going to overwhelm you with his talent or physical gifts. You obviously can't have a roster full of guys who are the best at their positions, but you want to upgrade if the possibility is there. He did very well with what he was asked to do, but I don't think he's capable of much more.

Steaming hot take there. He's been one of the most consistently good players on our team the past 3 years. He and Berry combine for one of the best 5 safety duos in the league easily IMO.

No, Ron Parker isn't a good tackler. He's never been a good tackler and he never will be. But he's a good coverage safety and in fact one of maybe 10 guys in the league that are capable of playing cover 1 effectively. He's damn valuable.

But again, Laz thinks he's supposed to be Steve Atwater because the Chiefs depth chart has him listed as a SS.

(That being said, he is getting old and expensive; if the right value fell to us, I'd definitely consider taking a safety in the first couple days of the draft. If Malik Hooker got caught toking up before the draft and fell to 27, I'd take him in a heartbeat, provided that the injury reports all check out after his surgeries).

The nice thing(s) about Parker is he's been above average for the last 2.5 years, he hardly ever lets a player get past him, and he can sub in as a decent corner.
