Mike and Mike breaking up

Personally, I disliked them, a lot. Used to listen for an hour in the morning before 810's Border Patrol came on, but every show was: Patriots, LeBron, Cowboys, Jets, Coach K, LeBron, Cowboys, Belichick, Steph Curry, Izzo, Brady.

I tuned back in the Monday after the Royals won the WS. I swear to God, this is how the show opened: "Congrats to the Kansas City Royals for winning the World Series, what a nice team you have. But we've got to talk about how the Mets blew the series, literally handed it to them ..." And then they spend the next 10 minutes talking about the Mets before moving on to the NBA.

Anyway, good riddance. I hate all non-sports-events ESPN anyway.

Sources: Greenberg leaving Mike & Mike for new ESPN TV program

The end of one of the longest-running partnerships in sports radio is coming soon.

SI.com has learned via multiple sources that ESPN executives are moving forward with the plan to shift Mike Greenberg—one half of the long-running Mike & Mike radio show on ESPN Radio—into a new role as the lead host of a television show that would air in the mornings on ESPN. The new show will have elements of SportsCenter—which currently airs at that time—as well as a traditional morning show. It is expected to be based in New York City. The new program would put an end to end to Greenberg’s on-air partnership with Mike Golic, which began in October 1998. Mike & Mike currently airs weekdays on ESPN Radio from 6–10 a.m. ET and is simulcast on ESPN2.

Via an ESPN spokesperson, Greenberg and ESPN executives Traug Keller, Burke Magnus and Connor Schell declined comment.

I would have to imagine this decision is being made because these guys are just sick of each other and are ready to do something else.

Its not like Greenberg is such an electric personality that he deserves his own show, but since he's already signed to an ESPN contract the network might as well throw some shit against the wall to see if it sticks.

As an addendum, I can see why they got tired of each other as Greenberg and Golic are both boring douches. Having to sit in the same room as either one of those pricks every morning for 19 years would be my own private version of hell.

Not a huge fan of Mike and Mike but I liked the show.

Big fan of Lebetard's show. Listen to that almost everyday while working, but if I lived closer to KC I'd listen to the local stations, mostly 810 instead.

But Jim Rome is like someone scraping their fingernails on the chalkboard to me.

Uhoh, most on here probably can't relate to that comparison.

The thing about Jim Rome is that he does some of the best interviews you can find, but the rest his schtick is just so juvenile and moronic.

Yeah, I just can't get past that "schtick" enough to listen to an interview anymore. I did suffer through a few in the past, but never again.

They are the Applebee's of sports radio, so it's fitting.
