I read recently that the new stadium will include entryway metal detectors that are programmed to ignore home arrest ankle monitors, as a response to market research with Raiders fans.

Take a team that has historically lacked motivation, had legal issues with women and drugs-then put them in Sin City.

What could go wrong?

How many people are really from Vegas? Do they have enough locals to fill that place?
Or will they depend on the visiting teams tourists?

I bet Siegrfried and Roy are worried about having Raiders in the area, too.

If there's one city in the US that could plan on filling a stadium by depending on a sizable ticket base from outside its own geographic area, it's Vegas. Other thing is, the Raiders already have a substantial fan base outside of Oakland. I could definitely see folks flying in for a weekend to do a little gaming and catch their favorite team to cap it off.

Plus, it's only a 3.5 hour drive from Hollywood and less from other surrounding cities.

The Raiders still have a large fan base in LA and I'm sure that plenty of people would road trip each weekend.

Sheldon Anderson can afford to build his own stadium
While it's certainly true that Addelson can afford to build a stadium, public funds are the only way a stadium is built in cities like Las Vegas and San Diego, as the owners aren't wealthy enough to build them without it.

I've said for years that Mark Davis should sell 49% of his ownership stake in the Raiders and take that money, along with the minority owner's funding to build the Raiders a stadium in the Bay Area. But for whatever reason, he refused to do so.

Same with the Spanos family. AEG was all ready to build a new stadium in DTLA, right next to Staples at LA Live!, if the Spanos family would sell 49% interest in their team to him, but they refused. Now, they're asking for public funds in San Diego because all of their net worth is tied up in the ownership of the Chargers and they can't build a new stadium without funding from the city and $300 million from the NFL front office.

It's corporate welfare but without it, San Diego doesn't have a football team and neither will Vegas.

What makes a stadium better? How new it is? What kind of bullshit gimmicks it has?

How about how good is the tailgating, how good is the fan experience, how good of people come to the game.

Raiders will never have a better stadium than us.
