I like Milk Duds. They were one of my first favorite candies, but as I get older, the way they stick to your teeth annoys me like kids on my finely manicured front lawn. Mars Bars are good so they get my vote.

I never see Oh Henrys anymore, but I remember liking them and I'm not a big fan of mint.

Mint and chocolate are significantly better than basic jelly beans. Of the mint candies, York Peppermint Patties are probably the best I've had.

Of non-chocolate candies, Starburst might be my favorites. In this heat, the starburst flavor lifts jelly beans to victory over a candy I have no use for in Nerds.

Jelly Bellys are far from "basic jelly beans."

There are only two kinds of jelly beans. Any jelly bean that's not a starburst jelly bean is a basic jelly bean.

Wrong. There's Jelly Belly and everything else. JB are exponentially better than all others. Except the buttered popcorn kind, those are gross.

One of my coworkers always has candy on her desk for people. I would tend to avoid the Jelly Bellies because of the fear of getting a cinnamon one or licorice. On her latest batch of jelly beans, I wasn't getting any bad ones, and then I discovered that they were Starburst (or maybe Sweetart) jelly beans. That's a huge advance over Jelly Bellies.

See what I mean?

Less variation than Jelly Bellys but the flavors they do have are simply better.

Because no buttered popcorn. Which is unquestionably the worst thing ever devised by man.

The key is to not buy the variety pack. Go to a store that sells them bulk and load up on your favorites. I think comparing similar flavors, Jelly Belly is better.

Milk Duds, Andes Mints, York Peppermint Patties, and Starburst Jelly Beans proceed to Round 3.

I'm glad that we gained our collective senses on York Peppermint Patties.
