Brady takes jab at Peyton Manning in email

This is probably part of the reason he doesn't want his text messages out there.

http://www.boston.com/sports/footbal...cHO/story.html

Tom Brady jabs at Peyton Manning in private emails

By Henry McKenna @McKennAnalysis
Boston.com Staff | 08.05.15 | 1:02 PM

Tom Brady is supposedly competitive about everything. Apparently, he’s even competitive about the length of his career when compared to his NFL rival Peyton Manning.

The Patriots quarterback jabbed at Manning in his private email correspondence, revealed in the NFLPA lawsuit to appeal Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate. Brady was emailing with a childhood friend Kevin Brady, who brought up a Grantland article comparing the two quarterbacks and outlining Manning’s decline. Brady wrote that his career will last at least five years longer than Manning’s. Manning is 39, Brady is 38.

Zinger.

And Brady’s not blind to the differences in the two quarterbacks’ careers. In another correspondence with blogger Jay Flannelly, Flannelly wrote to Brady about those major differences, saying Manning “needs everything to be perfect.” Brady didn’t seem to disagree, providing a typical Patriot-esque response.

Perhaps Brady buys into the Brady-Manning rivalry as much as we do.

It's true, he was never great with deep throws except when he had Moss, but earlier in his career it was a complete smurf attack. He was better, I think, wth guys like Stallworth and some others during the period 5-8 or so years ago. Now, he can't seem to find guys like Dobson deep, when do they have good height.

But yes, outside of Moss the deep ball has never been his game really.

I don't really disagree, as I think moss was the best wr to ever play. But even before that, brady was atleast decent at throwing the deep ball.

I never thought Brady was done after our beat down. No chance. That was crazy talk.

But it was everywhere, even here in New England. It was pretty hilarious when a REPORTER asked BB after that game if he was going to "evaluate the quarterback position" after that Chiefs beatdown.

Belichick gave a chuckle of disbelief and ignored it.

For those who want more details around Brady's workout regimen, and how it's very different from just "lifting and cardio", and goes all the way down to vegetable ice cream, here's the SI article. Some fitness gurus here might find it interesting if they haven't seen it before.

http://www.si.com/nfl/2014/12/10/tom...ts-age-fitness

and this 7 more years thing isn't some kind of secret. he says it right in the SI article.

Quote:
Other than one freak injury, a torn left ACL in '08, Brady has not missed any time since he started with Guerrero, about 10 years ago. He is 37 and in his 15th season, and he wants to play into his 40s. Like 45. Like 48. When teammates ask how long, he simply says, "Forever."

"You'll hear people say, Football doesn't define me," says Guerrero. But that's not Brady. "Football isn't what Tom does -- football is Tom. This is who he is."

THIS part is pretty arrogant:

Quote:
"God, what if LeBron James trained how I trained?" Brady asks. "He really could play forever."

Here's Tom House, Nolan Ryan's coach:

Quote:
Brady’s throwing coach, Tom House, once tutored Nolan Ryan, the Hall of Fame righthander. Ryan was 42 when he started working with House, back when the ace said he wanted to pitch another year or two. He didn't retire until he was 46.

. . .

"Tom is pushing back the aging process," says House. "There's no reason he can't do at 45 what he did at 25."

But just reading the SI article, what Brady will tell you is that being ripped isn't going to lead to longevity. He isn't a power-lifter. He isn't a marathoner. He's a quarterback. Everything is designed around success at THAT position for as long as possible.
