I think I did it this way last year, so I'll try it again...

Ceiling 95-67
Ventura and Duffy are as good as last season, except over 200 innings, Edinson Volquez channels Ervin Santana, the bullpen dominates as usual, and Hosmer, Gordon and Rios power an improved offense.

Floor75-87
Ventura and Duffy both are DLed and miss significant time, Volquez reverts to his old (bad self), the bullpen is asked to do too much and suffers dimishing returns, Cain gets hurt again, Gordon has a horrid 1st half while recovering from his wrist surgery, Hosmer is again Jekyll and Hyde, Rios and Morales both suck.

Likely 87-75
Some of the good things in the ceiling happen. Some of the bad things in the floor happen. And the team ends up in the wildcard chase rather than flirting with 90 and taking the division.

It's hilarious to me that losing James Shields has people national baseball writers thinking we're in "trouble."

Up until last year we hadn't been in the playoffs, let alone a WS in 30 years.

His biggest value was to eat innings and push the other starters to do the same. I think that mindset should carry over to this year.

It is not unreasonable to think that we could possibly get an extra 40 HRs this year without having huge improvements from any one player.

Aoki to Rios could be +15. Butler to Morales +10. Then the other guys guys exhibiting just a tad more HR power (especially Hosmer and Moose) and you can see how the offense has the potential to see greater gains than any loss in pitching would be in going from Shields to Volquez.
