BRING HIM IN FOR A LOOKY-DERP

But seriously, trade Chase for a sixth or seventh.

Unfortunately, the draft doesn't go past the 7th rd anymore...........

Yeah, they're shitty starting QBs. Which doesn't say shit about them as backup QBs.

3. Let's not act like we've got great insurance with Chase Daniel as our backup, either. Daniel doesn't exactly have all this experience that will ensure we'll be fine if Alex goes down. I mean, at least Green Bay knew that Matt Flynn looked great in practice and preseason. We can't exactly say the same for Daniel, who has just looked "meh" in that time with us.
Actually, Daniel has been MUCH better than Flynn in preseason. In 6 years, Flynn has a 66% completion, 1550 total yards, 9 TDs and 6 INTs. In 5 years, Daniel has a 62% completion percentage, 1769 total yards, 15 TDs, and 7 INT.

If Smith goes down the season is ****ing done. I don't think there's another QB in the NFL who minimizes risk while creating opportunities as much as Smith.

He refuses to fumble or throw a pick and yet scrambles like a madman when the rest of the 0 $3its its pants...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Weeden was the 22nd overall pick, but graded out as a mid 2nd rounder. His draft resume aside, has has failed miserably so far, and has shown to be at the bottom of the barrel in terms of NFL QB's. Not saying Murray is going to be the next Yahweh, but if Smith goes down, give me the guy who still has the potential to be a good player.
Why? I guess I have a different mentality when it comes to back up QBs. I don't care about potential when it comes to backups. I care about a guy I can trust to run the offense efficiently and keep the team in it for that one or two games the starter is out. That's why I've never supported cutting Daniel for Bray or Murray. If Smith is out a game or two, I want Daniel starting 100 times out of 10. I trust him the most to keep us in games and give us a realistic shot at winning. That can't be said for Bray or Murray.

I really hated Smith prior to last season. Those first few games showed me why 49ers fans loved him so much. He plays with a lot of heart and got a lot of first downs with his feet when most other QBs would have shat on themselves because of the pressure.

I'd still list him as a game manager but his upside/clutch play is far above what you'd think of in that role.

And as much as he scrambled last year he wasn't injured (though this still worries me) and didn't turn the ball over.

My problem isn't with Smith - my problem is what appears do be our complete lack of give-a-**** when it comes to supporting him...

Dallas really passed up their opportunity by not drafting Johnny Football.

Cleveland is gonna reap the whirlwind.

God, make this happen, Dorsey. For once, just make a ****ing roster move that doesn't leave us scratching our heads. Just once, perform a roster move that causes us to cheer and be proud of you as our GM.
9-0 to start the season with a playoff appearance after having the 1st pick in the draft. You shouldn't be scratching your head over this GM.
