Calling CDCox / anyone smart with math.. please

I'm taking a kamikaze run at a statistics test that will allow me to bypass the GRE at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

I can figure out how to get standard deviation of one set of data (example: number of pages in a set of books) but don't know how to determine "mean for the set of data" for something like:

Students at CP University and their majors

..... so.. the **** do I do...?

My second run at the GRE netted me a 310 overall (with a 3.5 writing... which is ****ing bullshit) with a 162 Verbal (89th percentile) and 148 quantitative (36th percentile).

The program in question wanted 50th percentile in both sections, so the fact that the guy is willing to work with me on the math part makes some sense at least.

Aside from that, some business schools take GRE but some strictly want the GMAT which is tougher in mathematics and has a different verbal test AFAIK.

FWIW the question concerned education levels... some HS, HS grad, some college, college grad or post-graduate. The question was multiple choice asking for "which of the following are true based on the graph" with answers like "more than X amount of people are in the data set" "more women than men went to high school" et cetera.

Now these are meaningful questions that are very easily solved based upon whatever data you were given.

Hey, just FYI. Just because the course is called STATS doesn't mean you have to capitalize every letter every single time you use it. Stats/stats is a perfectly acceptable way of writing it.
