Fan Feedback (Revolt) Top Ten

I still can't shake my anger over the Smith trade. It has been days and I am still livid. It may be worse for those of us that have been Chiefs fans long enough to remember January 1970 (though at a young age), because we are seriously wondering whether we will live long enough to have a GM that understands that today's NFL is a QB league and you have a fan base that has been abused since Trent Green left.

Now then, what can we do to let the new management know just how badly they mishandled the situation?

1) Angry calls to sports talk radio. Feels good when you do it, but you just know that management does not listen to these shows.

2) Try and find someone at the KC Star to be our voice. Teicher is a tool and Mellinger is the only hope. Truth is, no reporter is going to jeopardize his relationship with the new regime to be the voice of the angry fan base. Whitlock has betrayed us.

3) Do like Niners fans did in 2010 and burn Smith's jersey in You Tube clips. Like sports talk radio, it feels good but is unlikely to resonate with management.

4) File criminal charges against the Niners for rape? While clearly they raped Reid and Dorsey (and us vicariously) with the compensation they stole, we can get sanctioned by a court for making frivolous filings with the court. So, that does not work.

5) Sue the Chiefs for Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress. Being an attorney myself, this one sounds like fun, but is likely to get tossed out too.

6) Fly a banner or rent a billboard that warns. "The Honeymoon is Over Reid and Dorsey. Strike #1"

7) Find email addresses likely to be read by Hunt, Reid and Dorsey. Do not spam the email boxes, but a few hundred respectful emails expressing amazement at their folly might send a message.

8) Letter Writing Campaign. In the digital age this has less appeal, but people still read letters, so it might be worth a write in campaign.

9) Post a flock of responses on various bulletin boards and KC Star message boards that express our unhappiness, in a respectful way of course. Many are doing this already, so check this off the list.

10) Conduct a protest march or sit in. This is apt to be covered by the media if large enough.

Is this Futile? Maybe. The deal has been made. Absent extraordinary luck, it's a done deal.

So, why do it? Let the newbies in town know that they have misread their fan base, which is a big mistake in the entertainment business. There is hope that it will influence them to not let Albert walk and just pay the man the extra couple of million so we do not have to draft an LT. Maybe they will parlay the first pick into a real QB by trading down to recoup a draft pick to cover their previous mistake. Maybe it will make them realize that we are not a city of lemmings; but, there are educated football fans that root for this team (despite its recent misfortunes).

One can dream, despite their best efforts to rob us of those very dreams.

Since when did Winston protect Cassel? Guarantee Winston bleaches his anus.

It ain't rocket science. I have been a Chiefs fan for 50 years or more. I watch scout tapes too(thanks NFL network). To act like someone who is a coach or GM is always right is ridiculous. I will say I didn't like the Cassel trade either(unproven player). If these guys were that good they would win more. I recently read a column that talked about the myth that these people know more. I wish I had the link. How long it it take Egoli to admit that QB was the problem for the Chiefs?(only after he got fired)

Take a hard look at the Patriots drafts, there ain't any genius's there either. In fact most teams suck at the draft and Free agency. So if you don't like the trade say so and let those that do say so. The flip floppers who don't take a stand will say how they didn't like the trade but they are just hedging their bets in case in works out. I'm not afraid to say the deal sucks.
Yes, the pros make plenty of mistakes. But, with possible rare exceptions, the armchair GMs make even more. That's why this absolute certainty from so many of you is ridiculous.

This is ridiculous! All of your suggestions hold no merit! 1st, you don't even know the entire details of the trade? 2nd, man, give this new regime a chance, you never know what they have up their sleeve during the draft. Some of you people just amaze me!?

If the majority of fans like this trade then they deserve to suffer through a lifetime of Chiefs failure.

You'll be written off as a ridiculously unrealistic fan who thinks he knows more than the top notch team Clark has just hired to guide the franchise.

If the team disappoints over the next year or two and if QB play is the apparent cause, then you can start burning jerseys or organizing protests from a relative position of strength.
Defer to authority!! Why don't you guys do that in the cesspool known as DC? You guys aren't bigtimers in the political world, so why don't you keep your traps shut and defer to the pros?

The cesspool is all around you, my friend. There's every bit as much irrational hate here as there is there.

Your criticism doesn't even make sense in this context. I'm not telling the guy not to be furious about the trade (although I think it's kind of stupid to have that reaction). I'm telling him that there's nothing he can do about it at this point because (a) he's in a tiny minority of Chiefs fans and (b) Clark Hunt isn't going to accept the wisdom of that tiny, emotional minority over that of the guys he considers top notch professionals as evidenced by the fact that he just hired them and paid them a lot of money.

As others have said, taking action now is premature. That being said, It is good to discuss ideas of what may need to be done 2-4 yrs from now if the Reid/Dorsey regime becomes like the Pioli regime.

Further failure shouldnt be ascribed to the GM/HC/QB, but Clark Hunt himself. Thus it would be prudent to lay the groundwork in case a change of ownership is warranted. The chiefs are contractially obligated to remain in KC through 2031.

Some ideas:
1. make sure board members on the Missouri Development Finance Board share similar viewpoints. Members are appointed by the governor.

2. legislation that would legally close tax loopholes and benefits to the chiefs (either directly or indirectly).

3. Majority stake KC investment group that would be able to purchase the Chiefs if it became available.

What a waste of time....stewing and obsessing about that which you have no control. I have been watching the chiefs longer than you and I am excited about the possibilities for the future....just getting rid of cassel and *&^^^^ makes me happy. It can't get any worse than it was this last year....no way to go but up. Life is too short to get all worked up about things that you have no control over anyway.
