I'd buy sets and pull the stars. Sell them at their peak value. Had about 20 A-Rod rookies about half graded at 9+. Sold them high. Bonds, Frank Thomas also. But I missed on Drew Bledsoe and many others.

I've got a shit ton of cards. It's a shame they're not worth much any more.
I also have a bunch of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -- those bad boys would be worth some serious coin still in the package. I suppose I will hold onto them for when we have kids. |

That rice rookie in marginal condition is a couple bucks. Psa8? $50 or better. Psa9? 250ish. Psa10? It's a solid 4 digits. Modern card prices vary based primarily on registry set collectors. Outside of that, they can be a tough sell.

in high school, it was my job. It's just worthless these days. I would just buy and buy. I had like 50 Mattingly rookies at once when they were hot and about 100 Donruss Cansecos when they were hot. I had an entire part of my room that was devoted to keeping things in good shape.
I made more money then. lol |

I've never looked into grading my cards. I suppose that could make them worth more if in good shape.

After things crashed, I was able to buy this pristine 69 Ryan cheap, a Maris rookie and a few other killer cards cheap. They were hard to move. If I have a legit 52 Topps set, that is worth some serious money to me at any given time.
I never got ahold of the Mantle 52, but always wanted to say I owned it. Just way too damn expensive at the time. |

Authenticated autographs seem to hold their value well and are easier/nicer to display in your house then some cards lying around. That's the route I am going now and not for the money, just for posterity's sake.

But on the flip side, sometimes you hit gold and it'll pay off. Pop report is a huge factor as well. An example, fridge perry rookie card. Relatively easy to find in psa9 but the price will vary, starting at $40. I watched as a guy I know got the only psa10 to date for $600 on eBay. As soon as a couple more 10s pop, that price will fall.

The companies crashed the ****ing business. I bought out a whole store in like 94, cheap stuff, but had to move it through auctions. Most of the dealers that were successful hedged by dealing coins.
