They did not overpay for Carr. Franchise QB’s are hard to come by. The Raiders used a 2nd rd pick to draft Carr. Again, any team without a QB would love to have Carr with that contract. It’s what QB’s are worth. |

That is a hell of a contract though.. they could cut Carr right now and only have 7.5M in dead cap. All the guaranteed money was in the first year and a half of the contract, with a very small signing bonus.

Rams are going to be a high priority for my defense this season for fantasy football.

Calling Carr a "Franchise" QB is a stretch for sure. That term gets thrown around for any young QB that entrenches himself in the starting role. The Faders have paid him like one of the top 3 in the NFL and he has never won shit. He has a losing record against good teams and has been banged up. I expect the Chiefs dominance over the Faders to continue as long as Carr is in there. |

Would you risk getting hurt with 125 million staring you in the face? I sure wouldn't... Quite possible he won't be seen until June but they will sign him

I would rather have 3 $7 million dollar players..that are accessible. One goes down..you still have two. Houston has been a giant bust ...thanks Parker. Berry has missed around 40 games. Football is too violent to pay non-QBs that kind of money. I'll go out on a limb and say this team without Berry/Houston...but with $30+ million (yearly) to buy young talent would be better off. Neither one of those players are worth it anymore...their contracts are stupid. Someone should do a top 5 PFF composite per position...salary vs.performance. It would interesting to see if money is being spent wisely...or on "name brand and hype". PFF isnt the end all, be all....but its a subjective gauge. I actually agree with this take. I think the best formula to consistently win is pretty simple: refuse to pay a huge contract for any position other than QB. Set a benchmark (maybe the 60th percentile? 65th?) and simply refuse to pay any higher than that for other positions. Use the savings to get the best QB and hang on to him for 10-15 years. With the rules the way they are now, QB is where you get the most bang for the buck. The other positions, while important, are not so crucial that you need premium players there in order to consistently win. I don't believe Houston has been worth the money. Yeah, he has a few brilliant games here and there, but if you can get 70% of that production for 40% of the money, you do it and spend the savings on a QB.
