More Music (My New Band)
Previously, I've gotten some very positive responses from this message board on my musical endeavors (This thread) so I figured I'd share what I've been working on over the past year.
It's somewhat of a new direction for me. Very post-rock influenced instrumental, with a prog-experimental vocal overlay. Currently we are writing a concept album based on stories found in an old notebook from that of an elder whom had been stuck in a living community as a window without communication from his kids. Random words of wisdom… to personal feelings… to stories of childhood, the notebook is being pieced together and transcribed into musical format by us. As stories are translated, they are labeled with the page number and an alias. I've done the recording/production on these demos myself in home studio. I'm getting better, but still have a lot of work to do. To those who take the time to listen; I thank you for your ears! If you end up not liking it, I appologize. =) If you do like it, I ask that you send a "Like" to our facebook page and come check us out live sometime! I have listened to them all a few times through. I really like the new songs a lot! It kinda reminds me of Queensryche- Operation Mind Crime- with a little Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon- with a bit of Tool mixed in. Very Unique!
I looked up your FB and sent a F R. Hope to get the whole CD when it comes out and check you guys out live. I am always out seeing new bands and trying to support the local music scene. Great job!! BTW- nice job with the production- much better than most of the new "professional" mixing that has been done lately. A lot of the new bands just mix so Loud and Hot it covers other layers of sound. The last Buck Cherry was like that IMO. Can't wait to hear the whole CD!! |

Yup. I like the post rock feel of it. Nice overall mood and each song feels like a journey, which is what post rock is supposed to feel like, to me.

I mostly just lurk, but look at this board just about every day or two. I'm really more into all the stuff you guys talk about rather than football. If I want football I'll just watch the NFL Network. Besides, my team the Ravens won it all. On the Ravens boards if you get off topic they move it, that's the stuff I want to read. You can talk about all the football you want, but it doesn't mean a thing unless you're the owner.
In my mid-life I bought a record store (I was fired during the Air Traffic Controller strike 1981) and ran it for ten years. After that I sold CD's and videos for 15 years via mail order and internet, I was ten years before Amazon. So when an interesting music thread comes up, it gets my attention. As with most people who are around music all the time, it's nice to listen to something that's not mainstream. I have XM Radio in my car, so I can get all the oldies I want on there. I retired and moved to Florida two years ago, so I had to discard 4,000 record albums, downsizing. Now I play golf, workout to make up for 35 years of smoking and drinking, play softball, stay in shape. It's not a bad life, sunshine, nice weather, I drive my golf cart from the garage to the course. I use to have a guitar, keyboards, drum machine, and digital recorder but I couldn't make music that good. Here's my toys now, a 2011 Yamaha gas golf cart and my 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo; |

Sounds good. I'm not huge into this style but I can listen to this and enjoy it from time to time. I like it. Someone said it reminded them of Queensryche. Not sure if I hear that in there. I think the more accurate description was when someone said Pink Floyd meets Deftones. And I might even throw a bit of Porcupine Tree and Filter in there.
